New York City Walk?

What a difference a few weeks make. "The World" has changed a little over these past weeks, and seeing pictures like this must seem odd or inappropriate somehow. This walk around New York City was on February 22nd. So try to enjoy a peek into the recent past and remember that there will be a future where this is all "back to normal" and a big old rant like this might seem silly when looked upon in the future.

Of course, every trip to the New York Toy Fair includes a trip to the big city itself. I suppose we could just go home, but we are already here, so let's walk around and get some pictures.

Random picture from the train ride into the city...Can you think of a clever graphic icon for "keep feet off seats"? They couldn't. If you can't read English, does it still apply to you? Or do they expect all non-English speaking people to just be polite normally, and not need a sign.

Last of the Toy Fair 2020 pictures

This is the last bunch of pictures we got at the 2020 New York Toy Fair. I know I've been spreading these posts over several weeks, so it might be a little strange to see pictures from a big-attended event like this right now. It's only been a few weeks? Anyway, enjoy this small distraction. And if you want more, remember I've got years-worth's of posts to check back on!

I wonder if there are any 75-year-olds still playing with toys. Minty is not nearly that old yet. The Mattel booth is located on it's own separate floor, and there's a club-like bouncer turning you away right at the escalator. It's giving off the wrong vibes, are they aware of that?

Toy Fair 2020 More Cute

Sorry for the delay, I got caught up playing Animal Crossing and slacked off on the pictures for a few days! Almost through the pictures from the 2020 New York Toy Fair. I don't think we took as many this year... when you go a few times, you start to wonder what's new and what you've already taken pictures of last year. We try to only get new pictures, but sometimes we forget. Have another round of cute pictures.

What exactly is this poodle soliciting here? Welcome to the New York Toy Fair! I guess it's innocent enough. The thing to notice about this enormous poster is that this is a trade-only show, so technically you'd be taking this poodle to your toy store to sell, not to your home.

Some Random Toy Fair 2020 pics

There were many pictures taken at the 2020 New York Toy Fair! This group is like random stuff, so maybe you'll see something you'll find interesting.

The lobby had a Lego brick Jacob K. Javits Center. It was much quicker to walk around this, than to walk around the whole building. I don't think we've ever walked around to see the back, so that was kind of neat to check out without the hassle. Having said that, I guess I should have taken a picture of the back of this thing.

Toy Fair 2020 Hobby Games

This group of pictures from the 2020 New York Toy Fair is mostly like, hobby games and stuff. I was organizing the photos and wound up with a lot of those.

This is the Annoying Flying Unicorn. Doing a good job of getting your attention right at the entrance. We're fans of the Unstable Unicorns card game, so we were looking forward to seeing what they had here, and seeing a big carpet ad right as soon as we walk in was exciting.

Cute Stuff at the 2020 Toy Fair

Pictures from the 2020 New York Toy Fair! This is a bunch of cute pictures.

Grumpy Bear looks like he stole Grumpy Smurf's act. It's actually a very unusual character to include in a group of happy bears. Looks like he's not too thrilled to have his picture taken.

New York Toy Fair 2020 - Funko

More pictures from the 2020 New York Toy Fair. This is the group of pictures taken from the Funko booth. Funko is so popular because they really have the ability to make anything that is... popular. And their cute style makes everything feel like it belongs together.

Right at the front desk is The Child! Better know as Baby Yoda. Have a catalog, everybody! They took the digital route for the catalog, which is honestly a magnificent idea. They always had the biggest, thickest, heaviest catalogs. And we usually picked up a couple extras for friends. This is the retailer's catalog, so you can't order through it. just get a peek at what's coming up. Now you can feel like you went to the Toy Fair in a small way.

Toy Fair 2020 - Gamer Stuff

More pictures from the 2020 New York Toy Fair! This group is um... like video games and anime stuff. Kind of. I was a little sloppy grouping the pictures together this year, it's a lot to organize!

The Arcade 1Up cabinets are exploding in popularity, so it's cool they get to expand the choices with new games. They are even trying to do pinball machines! Except these have computer screens where the pinball stuff would go. I guess they were not fully ready to try yet, as they were rotating behind the "velvet rope."

2020 Year of The Child - Baby Yoda!

Here's the story of "Baby Yoda" in case you didn't know. The new Disney+ service was launching with a brand-new Star Wars show, The Mandalorian. Not much was know about this show before it aired, and they shocked everybody in the first episode with the reveal of a small baby that resembled the mysterious ancient Jedi Master Yoda. Boom! The internet blows up with adoration for The Child, who is quickly nicknamed "Baby Yoda." In order to pull off the surprise for the show, they kept the secret of The Child from EVERYBODY. Including the merchandise group. So nobody could let slip from a t-shirt, mug, action figure, whatever... any sort of knowledge of this adorable character would leak out and spoil that one glorious moment. It totally worked! The moment was epic. But, now the merchandise had to catch up to the popularity. And we were really looking forward to seeing some Baby Yoda stuff at the 2020 New York Toy Fair.

Since the marketing for the show now includes The Child, we feel it's okay to talk about it without spoiler tags. If you already missed the epic big reveal moment of the show, it now falls into the realm shared by "I see dead people", "Don't talk about Fight Club", and even a more relevant "...I... am your Father!" pop culture spoilers generally know about. At this point, you really can't be surprised because you've probably already seen or heard about Baby Yoda. It's still a great show and I almost DARE you not to fall in love with the little guy.

New York Toy Fair 2020 Best In Show

Time for the yearly onslaught of pictures from the New York Toy Fair! It's 2020 and this first batch of pictures is right-away like the best ones. Well, maybe just the most interesting stories ones. I think this year I'm going to have bigger groups of pictures so we can get through them faster, so enjoy all the TEXT! Haha.

How many times have I taken this same exact picture? This year I forgot to take a generic "New York Toy Fair 2020" sign picture, so we'll just use this lame picture as the establishing shot. Let's go inside and see some stuff!
