Treasure Hunting

Another collection of pictures from the wonderful Summer of Non-Adventures. Still, we get out and do a bit of shopping, so there's a small amount of adventure and picture-taking to be had.

Big Lots is reading our minds? We've often called shopping "Treasure Hunting" and I guess that terminology has somehow found it's way onto this sign. This cute puppy looks like it's ready to sniff out some treasures. We never thought about having hound dog trackers, so that's a new thought.

It's not hard to guess why this tiny sand bucket sparked emotions in my friend. It's been a while since we've been to a beach, and this tiny thing somehow reminded him of all the fun stuff about a beach.

Here's a bottle of sauce we found, wonder what it tastes like? Do you think it's..... yummy?

Got a big smile out of this movie box cover. From the over-the-top name to the tag line "revenge never gets old." It's a brilliant picture that's basically the whole movie in one... shot. There's a bad guy, a guy "investigating" on his phone, a girl who looks like she's been through some hardship, an explosion, the Hero's determined look, and I wonder how it all ends? Oh, maybe... a Bullet to the Head? Have we just seen this movie?

To mimic-quote Steve Harvey: Welcome to Big Lots everybody, we got another good one for you tonight! Normally a Family Feud card game sounds like a fun idea, and might get a fun picture taken to share. But if you look closer on the back of the box, the sample question is shockingly "Name someone who gets paid to wear a mask." Whoa! Is that a mind-blower? Copyright 2019, did they know about the upcoming pandemic? Have fun with this one, conspiracy people!

If you haven't seen Happy Gilmore, it's about a crazy amateur golf genius. This classic quote from the movie can clearly be heard in my head using the "Adam Sandler" voice, as he screams at a golf ball right next to the hole that it did not fall in.

Anybody else enjoying this crazy new thing at Taco Bell? It's called a Grilled Cheese Burrito, and like most everything at Taco Bell, it's just another awesome combination of their ingredients in a new way. Are they just rolling dice to come up with these things? They're all winners!

My friend is vulnerable to tiny collectible blind-boxed things. So when he spotted these... um, letter transformer robot things... of course he had to squishy the bags to get the letter "D". Which he totally did. Let's hope they make another series of these things because all of the alphabet was not in the first batch.

In an odd moment while walking through Target, we glanced over at this Animal Crossing banner and saw our neighbor Jay right on top! He's the bird guy. There's like 400 characters in that game, but our pal was in the ad! How cool is that? And in that moment of joy, my friend started to wonder... if maybe he's playing that game a little bit too much.

My friend has a sore-spot for false advertising pictures. It used to bother him a lot, but now he's a lot better at dealing with expectations. Still, this Bacon Sandwich ad from Sonic made him laugh at the very ridiculous thought that they would actually serve you anything close to this. I mean, LOOK AT ALL THAT BACON! There is NO WAY you will get one this piled-high with bacon if you order it. My friend is tempted to order one to see, but knows better.

Are enough people buying these cereals and mixing them, that they felt the need to sell them pre-mixed? How lazy can you be? [lazy kid voice] Uh, whatever... can't you just mix it for me? GOSH!

I saw the new Care Bears at the Toy Fair, so it was a little neat to finally see them on store shelves. You can see Grumpy Bear is excited about it, too.

If you look closely, you can see the spider web that was stretched between the bushes leading up to our apartment. Good thing we saw it, it was massive and would have tangled us up for sure. After we ducked under it and got inside, we thought, was it wrong to have left it up?

Cue up the guitar riff for "Danger Zone" when you press the button on this bear's hand, it plays a good few minutes of the song. And it's just as awesome as you think it is. I feel the need!

Zoom in on the curb down there, you'll see a dropped utility knife. It had a really neat shape to it, like a fantasy movie creepy evil dagger. We were stopped at this light long enough to get a picture, but we'd better not pick it up, in case it's really haunted or something.

The mall close to us was re-opened, and we went to get some Popeye's for lunch, but I guess we cannot eat it inside the mall today. Here's the vacated dining area.

The Black Hole movie came out when Star Wars was the new hotness, and the villain robot Maximilian was trying very hard to get some of Darth Vader's awesome villain mojo. Is it close? My friend remembers he thought this thing looked very cool.

The Black Hole was also trying to steal some of R2-D2's cool robot buddy mojo, with V.I.N.CENT and B.O.B. here. Hey, more than one movie can have cool robot buddies. Seeing these figures makes my friend want to re-watch this, but he's nervous about how well it holds up to modern movie standards.

Who isn't a "puzzle person"? Most people would enjoy a puzzle every now and then. But who has time for that these days? We glanced over and saw this one and it somehow generated a spark of interest. Was it the cat? The colorful threads that seemed fun and challenging? We passed on it, but got the picture to share in case other puzzle fans needed inspiration.

We sent this picture to a friend who we thought had seen Game of Thrones, but he was totally confused. Ooops! Sorry it's only a very minor spoiler; during sword training in the first season, the characters started talking about gods, and the trainer said something like "In battle there is only one god, his name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death: Not Today." Pretty sure this is not technically a Game of Thrones mug, but it kinda is.

Not technically God-related, but this t-shirt is a perfect summary of the anime series Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure. Every episode has one of these moments in it, and a lot of them have... a ton... of these moments.

I don't know why my friend found this product name so funny, but he couldn't help laughing in the store when he saw it. It's not only going to clean it, it's going to DESTROY it!

The smallest ever Star Wars figure? Usually when they make a figure this small, they'll include it with another figure as a sort of bonus accessory. But The Child gets his own package, he's totally worth it!
