NYC Torture Stores

Shopping in New York City! While shopping online has it's charms, there's nothing quite like seeing things in person. I guess you are looking at the pictures we took um, online, so... it's not the same thing? But we were there, so enjoy the pictures.

You either have no idea what this means, or this is the coolest shirt you've ever seen. From Game of Thrones; a particular hero saves the day by holding a door, for like, his entire life. Cool shirts like this available in the HBO store.

Geeky shopping ahead, click on the "Read more" below!

Browsing around the anime stores. Among the Dragonball Z guys, here's characters from the new show My Hero Academia. It's about a super hero school where all the students are being taught how to use their super powers. For example the guy with the grenade on his wrist has the power of "explosions!" There's good drama moments in the show it's pretty popular right now.

Here's characters from the "Fate" series, where various historical figures are resurrected to fight in a battle for the Holy Grail and the wish it grants the winner. It's cool anime fighting action but also a little bit of a history lesson. Cute Nendoroid versions.

In the American version of Pokemon, this guy's name is Giovanni. Leader of Team Rocket and the villain who created Mewtwo. So what, the bad guy still gets a cute Nendoroid version.

Rilakkuma pile at the bookstore. Jump on in.

So many anime figures but technically this is a book store. Kinokuniya is right across the street from Bryant Park.

Good old anime character designs,... sigh. I don't recognize this character or know where she's from, but I bet she's a ninja? She sure doesn't seem shy, that's for sure. I'm not judging anything, or asking what else you could buy, for the $213 price tag.

HBO store street display is a massive Game of Thrones SPOILER to everypony walking by. That's what you get for not keeping up with the show, I guess they are thinking by doing this.

NBC store. Here's a fun Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Xmas tree ornament. It's funny when you realize that Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show was probably NEVER viewed on the type of television that ornament is. Rotary dials?

New Halloween superstar David S. Pumpkins POP! Figure set. The Skeletons are part of it. Any questions??
Yes! We have lots of questions!

Can you believe they found a way to get awesome Stefan merchandise? It's a funny news culture reviewer bit from Saturday Night Live. He'd whisper-speak something like "Today's hottest blog is "Where's Minty." That's the blog where somebody takes a pony out of a pocket and puts pictures of it all over the internet." and giggle into the camera.

Ugh. Yes. We get it. They drink wine on their morning show. Can this not be the grown-up version of what the "cool kids" do? Sorry. We like your show, but you don't need the wine really.

Just wearing this hat makes you feel like you can do the salmon ladder, right? Oh... They should have a salmon ladder in the store for you to try.

Legendary Beast pokemon Celesteela plushie at the Nintendo World store. In the game you catch them in special Beast Balls. Yeah, just wanted an excuse to post the words "Beast Balls."

Xmas decoration Pokemon! I wonder which pokemon pulls Santa's sleigh? One Charizard oughta do it just fine.

These might be from Kirby, but we didn't recognize these characters in the Kirby section. I guess we need to play more Kirby games? That's a good thing.

We took home one of these Bokoblin guys from the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game. They are full of personality in the game and this plushie is, too.

My friend is still a little upset that the Mario Odyssey game teased the possibility of Mario and Peach actually getting married, and then didn't follow through with it. They might have played it for a laugh but she flat-out rejected him. We just feel really bad for poor Mario and want to take him out for a drink. Seriously if we could....

Peach gets mugged every game, right?

From Mario Odyssey, this is Pauline. She was the damsel in the original Donkey Kong game. Now she is Mayor of New Donk City which is what they were constructing in Donkey Kong. She seemed very happy to reunite with her old pal. Full circle, Mario. I'm rooting for him here.

Yo dawg, we heard you like Legos. So we put a Lego Lego Store... in a Lego Store. So now you can have your Legos buying Legos while you buy Legos!

Special Holiday build-a-minifig pieces for Mr and Mrs Claus and Xmas elves. This store was so packed it was not even worth considering getting anything.

Here's some Hammer Bros. Picture taken for my friends who are Hammer Bros.

Random G.I.Joe EXTREME figures made us laugh. Where did these come from? They have rather plain code-names to be considered "extreme."

Hulk oven mitts? Could you imagine Hulk cooking dinner? Everything is mashed potatoes.

By the time we get to the Midtown Comics on the way back to the train station, we are too tired to shop. There's still lots of cool stuff here, but our enthusiasm is depleted.

Okay, we found some cute plushies from My Hero Academia. It's funny to notice that these characters on the show might have self esteem issues about their ability to be heroes, but today they lifted our spirits, like heroes. Ugh my friend is such a sucker for sappy stories like that.
