Bike Training

Out for another bike ride on a Saturday. This time we were going to try to make it to the local train station. Let's get going!

Right away we have a good picture for today as this deer is casually eating surrounded by people using the Canal Trail. Why does it get nervous when we stop to take it's picture? It didn't flinch while several people passed by it a short while ago.

more pictures click on the "Read more" below!

Check me out, checkin' you out. Checkin' me out, checkin' you out. I'm checkin' you out.

I don't remember this graffiti, is this new? Do I have old pictures to compare with somewhere? Sorry about the swear words written over there, who hates corn?

Of course we are going to stop and take a picture of this super big pretty flower. Only now do I notice that fly up there photo-bombing us.

How wild is that? That muddy water down there is suddenly clear in the middle of that area. Should we dig for some kind of magical purification trinket?

A long time ago, we saw a funny video promoting a Darth Vader recording for a GPS device. It was fictional outtakes from the recording sessions and Darth Vader kept repeating "Round-abound" so whenever we see one of these things, we think of that. And seeing this means we are close to the train station!

There it is! We had to cross Route 9, then go down the Canal Trail until we hit Alexander St, and then all the way back to get here. Took us just about exactly one hour.

There are tons of regular bike racks but they also have these huge lockers you can rent if you are worried about anybody messing up your bike.

That's where you buy your tickets. We could take the bike up to Central Park if we wanted! Of course it took us an hour to get here, and likely an hour to get home... how much bike riding do we need for one day?

Up the ramp to the platform. Just when we thought we were special, there's a whole group of bicycle people up here already. So yeah not special.

The most direct route for us to get here has a long stretch of road that lacks a sidewalk or bike trail of any kind, so you would have to drive in the crazy traffic which we try to avoid. It might have taken us a lot longer but it was a comfy safe ride.

Near the train station, behind a 7-11, is a park with this giant pagoda thing. We noticed it while car driving around and this was a good opportunity to stop and check it out.

Feels like we are in Disneyworld Epcot! Okay, we've never been to actual China, but we have been to Epcot and seen this sort of thing there.

Can anybody read that? They have such pretty writing, don't they? I wonder what English words look like to them...

Okay looks like the text says "Beautiful Pavilion" and here's a big ole' plaque to explain the place.

Over here is some kind of big sand Zen Garden. Should we stop to smooth out the sand? Would that give us inner peace?

Technically not entirely solid sidewalk the whole way. There's one odd place you have to jump over the grass for a step. Why did they give up on the sidewalk here?

Saw this birdnest on the ground and was reminded how cool it is that birds build these things. There were plenty of birds chirping nearby so I think they are okay in new nests.

We usually do wait for the walk signs, but yeah nice reminder to keep doing that. There were other signs for the cars to yield to the crosswalks, too.

Haha just had to get a picture of this ridiculously enormous house being constructed in this neighborhood full of much-smaller houses. Who would want to be their neighbor? You'd feel like you were living in a tent next to this thing.
