OBX 2021 Food 2nds

More pictures of the meals we had on our Outer Banks vacation week. There was too many to fit into one post so have some more! We were on vacation, so absolutely no worries about prices or calories, just eat tasty stuff.

After we went kayaking, we went out to find a place to eat lunch and wound up at another Mexican place, Taco Loco. Yes I said "kayaking" those pictures will be posted later. See on this menu you can get a Coke with 2 refills for $2.50 or Coke from Mexico in a bottle for $3. Um... math? Is Mexican Bottled Coke that much better?

Went with the pulled pork burrito which was the size of a football. Um,... American football. Looking at this picture with me in front of it, it really doesn't look that big, but it was seriously "all you can eat" burrito since we didn't finish it before we were stuffed.

They had complimentary tiny gum boxes so we picked up some chiclets. Just so my friend could say he picked up some chiclets while on vacation.

Max's Pizza was dinner that night. I thought pizzas were round, this is talking about triangles.

Got a picture of the picture of fellow New Jersey resident Einstein on vacation. Eat = Mozzarella Cheese squared!

Surely "White" is referring to some kind of style or type of ale, and not the race of the actual zombie. They have White Pizza here and that's got nothing to do with people. Why's it gotta be a "White" zombie?

We went two mediums, I know I just made that joke, but one was a White pizza and the other was a "That Fun Guy" pizza. Fun Guy is a play on Fungus which is what mushrooms are and after we ordered I had second thoughts about fungus pizza.

They ordered Squid Ring appetizers, so keep it far away from my friend who doesn't like seafood, please. He was playing along, cowering in the corner, but I think they might have also been a little annoyed with the playful fussiness. A delicate game of tease/counter tease was being had all week with the seafood.

THAT is an odd looking huge mushroom. Not what my friend was expecting, but it wasn't "seafood" so it was happily tried and okay'd. I hope the Smurf that used to live there is doing okay.

They accidentally gave our white pizza to another table. That other table ordered a large white pizza but added bacon to it, and they offered that to us since it was already in the oven. We all like bacon, so sure! Honestly, the bacon did add to the flavor in a good way, so that's what you call a Happy Accident.

Two Roads Tavern for dinner that next night. I think we had a quick McDonald's Lunch earlier that I forgot to take a picture of, or maybe we had some leftover pizza? That sounds about right.

There's tons of non-seafood options on the menu, but when it was pointed out to the waitress that my friend did not like seafood she did an odd "WHOA!" that made us all laugh. I mean, sure there is a lot of seafood here, but the whole top of the menu is burgers.

The Carolina Pickle Brine sandwich was awesome. How is this soooo good and not yet copied all over the place? It's just a chicken sandwich with a lot of pickle-ness. And no seafood, whoa! I should have taken a picture of the TV screens all around the place. They were playing American Ninja Warrior and it was super funny when someone would fall and everybody in the restaurant collectively went "AAAAAAHHHH!!!!" and then laughed because everybody heard everybody else do it, too.

Argyle's Restaurant for breakfast. This place is due to close soon, and will be missed since it's so close to the time share place and usually visited a couple of times each trip down here.

This tabletop is hot lava! Eh, it was a cool texture so we got a picture of it. Tables can be art.

Waffles! It's actually been quite a while since we've had a waffle, so this was a very welcome treat. All of the meals came with pretty blue flowers, too!

Since we had a breakfast, we ate lunch kind of later, and also there was cooking to be done. My friend had planned on making meals for our fishing boat trip (pictures of that will be later) and bought a ton of ingredients. But that kind of fell through, and they cooked up a lunch the next day instead.

There was ground beef and potatoes and various spices and stuff cooked up. This was the leftovers for a little pre-meal sampling.

The stuffing was baked into a pie crust and was incredible! This type of thing is right in my "wheel house" of preferences. Every bit of it was good.

Here's the tiny bit of leftovers cooked into a tiny crust. I think I'll have to try something similar at home eventually. With the late lunch, and packing to be done, we had the rest of the leftover pizza for dinner that night.

All packed up and checked out, we still spent the day in the OBX. Wanting to leave on a high note, we went back to Trio for lunch.

No need to try anything different, the Mac n Cheese was tempting, but that French Dip sandwich was awesome and we were looking forward to having it once more.

What do you do for a living? Me? I'm a Cheesemonger! Yes, that sounds like a very cool thing to be able to say.

We got a free cheese plate from a coupon. There was four of us so we cut this into four pieces. Wait... Minty makes five! Minty gets a piece, too! Sorry that logic did not work. The Cheesemonger gave us a flavor called Triple Play Extra Innings.

Our friends had one final tease for my seafood-avoiding friend, and ordered some tuna bites. Without a doubt this was the most fishy-smelling thing encountered the entire week, and that includes when they went actually fishing on a boat and had live fish on hooks. This somehow was worse.

The French Dip arrived after the tuna bites had been cleared and erased from the table. Back to heaven. Yummy heaven.

They browsed around after the lunch for some last minute things to take home. I feel like I need to mention they specifically asked for their local favorite named "Jackass Red" and were told they haven't been able to get any of that for a couple of years, now. Did that imply there was still hope to get some later?

I've said this before, but Minty doesn't do alcohol in any form, but I can still appreciate the clever and artistic labels and bottle shapes. Sometimes I do feel like I'm missing out on also enjoying the flavors, but that's okay.

Nothing wrong with cheese. I could do cheese flavors instead. Feel free to zoom in and read up on all of the names and descriptions here. That's why I get pictures like this.

After the minigolf, we stopped in Tropical Smoothie Cafe for one final treat to take with us on the ride home. This place has been around for such a long time but my friend doesn't think he's ever been in there ever. Maybe there was one time or maybe two that he can't remember? He doesn't think so.

Certainly nothing on the menu was familiar in any way. If he did go in there was probably all different flavors back then. How often do they mix this up? Pun intended.

Yeah we took a picture of this inflated... palm tree. Forget that it might also look like something else. Hey, I didn't say it.

We went with a Bahama Mama with strawberries, pineapple, coconut, and white chocolate. It must be a very fun job to come up with those flavor combinations.

So there it is! I think I've covered pretty much everything we ate in the OBX. There was Paqui One-Chip-Challenge chips that were brought along, but my friend chickened out once he started reading reviews online. They delayed the challenge to a Thanksgiving Weekend trip, so we'll see if that sticks. I hope I didn't make you too hungry looking at all of these tasty memories.
