Trip Time!

Vacation to the Outer Banks time! Tons of pictures to share, this first bunch is general travel stuff mostly, who likes a road trip?

Finally pulled over to take a picture of the "giant cock" we pass on the road down to Virginia and always get a giggle out of. Don't tell your parents you saw Minty posted a picture of a giant cock, okay?

There might be more cock pictures? Click the "Read more" below to find out!

There is another picture of the Giant Cock! This one gets bonus points for the Royal Farms "chicken palooza" billboard right behind it. What an awesome funny coincidence.

They've been working on this new bridge in Virginia Beach for several years now, and it looks like it's almost done, but probably not. They put some kind of lighted sculpture on it which is a snowflake or flower or something, made of several surfboard shapes. Sorry for the blurry picture.

Full moon! Pictures of it always wind up not as impressive as the real thing. But we still try.

Border Station! This rest stop on the road down to North Carolina is, as the name implies, right on the border. Literally. Is this gimmick worth the nightmare that must come during tax season?

This line on the floor tells you what state you are in. Red is Virginia and Blue is North Carolina. I'm in the black stripe, is that like a Star Trek Federation/Romulan Neutral Zone?

Haha check out the lottery machines next to each other for the different states. Looks like that Virginia one is partly in North Carolina?

Bit of a shock to see some kind of slot machines on the NC side. When was that a thing? They were making the classic casino bling bling sounds.

The Border Station had a display of snacks from Stuckey's, which is a different rest stop brand, but fun to see then get a bit of space here for their tasty snacks.

We've taken pictures of Brew Thru before but in case you've never seen it, it's like a liquor store you drive your car into on purpose.

It's a little surprising that this concept of a drive-through store has not be duplicated. They sell a lot of souvenir t-shirts here and I'm sure all the tourists return home with the fun stories of this.

Drive through store gimmick not being enough, the idea of driving and purchasing alcohol is just too funny. It's "Don't Drink and Drive" not "Don't Purchase and Drive."

My friends got the local favorite wine Jack Ass Red. I can't believe I just typed the word "Ass." Hey, I'm talking about the wine!

The time share rec center has a claw machine where we found our new friend Xylaphone. She's an orange bear. So she's Orange Bear Xylaphone. Or "OBX" for short.

My friend was playing some classic Space Invaders! We were teaching him the strategy of clearing the invaders from the sides so it takes the aliens longer to drop down.

We did the Wii Bowling tournament. There were six of our family that signed up plus "one other old guy." The other guy was obviously taking it easy on us but still won with little effort and later bragged about playing a lot and being so bored bowling 300s he switched to his left hand and mastered 300s with that, too. I guess we still had a wee bit of fun.

Minigolf! This year we remembered to bring our putter. Bonus in the picture is that guy that won the Wii Bowling is over there. Minigolf tournament was going to be on a day after we were going to leave, but I bet that guy's going to enter!

Nothing too fancy about this course but it's been a while since we've played some "tiny golf" so it was great anyway.

Also from the claw machine, Monke' is taking a "nap-kin."

Right before we left, our friend had a clever idea of using the Caramel Magic Shell on these big cookies. So new pro-tip: You can use Magic Shell on cookies!

On the trip back north we stopped into the Stuckey's and got a picture of this shirt. We didn't get the shirt but later thought it might be fun to see who would recognize the generic "road trip" souvenir.
