Lost River Caverns

Caverns? Cool! Here's some pictures from our trip to Hellertown, Pennsylvania and the Lost River Caverns. Rock and roll!
This might look like some kind of goop monster behind me but it's rock really, so I'm not in any danger.

Click on the "Read more" below for lots more pictures!

Waiting in the gift shop/museum/neat-stuff-area before the tour. Here's a Bear vs Velociraptor display. Um, why?

I have a friend who is a Tweety fan but they may be not be too happy with Tweety's new career in pirating. (I later asked the tour guide if there was pirate treasure in the cavern and she said no.)

Entrance to the Cavern! Hope no pony is afraid of small spaces in the dark!

Big area was used for square dancing and weddings but not anymore. It was a bit too much chaos or um... cave-os? Sorry that was just terrible.

Pool of water that just drips out of the ceiling. If the water drips on you it's called a "Cave Kiss" and is 5 years good luck!

Random picture of the ceiling. Our tour guide Sam is a My Little Pony fan and she was excited to see me in the tour.

Here's the "Lost River!" Toss in a coin and make a wish?!

Right here the water is really rushing past quickly. Where does it come from?

Down this hole is where the Lost River disappears. They have made many attempts to try and figure out where all the water goes but it remains a mystery!

Algae grows from energy from the light fixtures.

On our way out Sam told us more ponies hit the sign rather than the ceiling here. Is there's a lesson there somewhere?

In the Gift shop after the tour, spotted this hilarious sign made from the popular show TV show Breaking Bad. Geology humor.

What pony doesn't want a Rock Critter? So cute!

They have some museum displays these are NOT bowling balls.

Pictures only of the hidden chamber from the cavern. You have to go into the Lost River and underneath lots of rocks to find it. No pirate treasure.

Above the cavern there's a small nature trail. Trees growing on top of the rocks!

I think this is a trick question, the sign is made out of wood.
