Count on Minty!

Well, not much going on around here. Staying home all the time is not boring, but it does limit the picture taking opportunities. I do have a few pictures I can share.

Forgetting about the logistics of collecting the census data these days, we saw this commercial for the US Census featuring The Count from Sesame Street. And we had a laugh imagining what that must be like for him. Counting every---single---person---in---America?! That's got to be his total dream job! He goes door-to-door and AH AH AH! with every person he counted!

What can I say?

Minty is still hanging in there. We've been chilling in the self-quarantine for a very lazy few weeks, after a very minor fever and almost no other symptoms whatsoever. That's technically over next Wednesday so life will return to "normal" shortly. Normal, like going to work and drive thru lunches. The rest of it is still all weird. We were properly stocked-up so we barely opened the front door. There were some pictures in the camera of random stuff, so we can post stuff from when life was less weird. These pictures were taken when you could still go out shopping regularly.

Saw this in the art store and thought it could be one of those internet things where people steal it and insert funny text. Maybe something like "My Little Pony was relevant 8 years ago"? Minty is just glad to still be taking pictures at this point.

Cabin Fever?

Okay, what happened? I know I was posting pictures from the Toy Fair for a while, and during that time, massive changes happened around the world. The Covid-19 Pandemic has urged everyone to stay away from each other and how strange is the result. Having a "warehouse" job, little had changed for my friend. He went to work as usual, stayed away from people, fast-food drive thru for lunch, go home. It was not very different than his normal routine, for the most part. Until about a week ago...

One night he got "the chills" and checked his temperature. Fever. Boom. Instant out-of-work for two weeks, minimum. Toasty waterbed plus 12 blankets got rid of the chills and acetaminophen got the fever down. A "small amount of" panic and uncertainty about how this would progress turned out to be "very minor symptoms." So minor in fact, that we're not even sure if my friend actually DID have the "Covid 19" at all. There was definitely some vague head-cold feeling, like he should have been stuffed up, but wasn't. No trouble breathing at all. As I write this on Sunday when the fever happened last Tuesday night. So we're still vaguely worried but optimistic that we were either spared from the worst case or lucky we did not actually get it. Yet still expecting to be sucker punched when we least expect it.

Having said all that, I suppose it's okay to have some fun with the pictures we've taken over the preceding weeks. I guess this stuff happened, and we got some pictures, so might as well record it in the blog. One day we can look back at this and think a different bunch of thoughts. If you are reading this, I hope you are doing well.

NYC Part B

One last bunch of pics from our walk around New York City after the 2020 New York Toy Fair. If you need reminding, these pictures were taken late February before "things happened". Let's all just forget about those things for a while and enjoy some fun pictures.

At the FAO Schwarz checking out gigantic Funko Mystery Minis. Funny  that I still have to refer to them as "minis", they usually come in those small random boxes. Could you imagine the size of the boxes for these? How much would they have to cost, and how bad would you feel if you did not get the one you wanted? You think you could find somebody to trade with?
