Here Comes The 2018 New York Toy Fair!

New York Toy Fair 2018! You may be visiting our blog because you got one of these trinkets? Much cooler than plain old business cards, right? We met lots of friendly people with lots of fun stuff and took lots of pictures! We'll try not to drag this out too long this year but that just means we plan on posting lots of pictures at once instead of little bits a lot. This first bunch of pictures is trip-related so toys will be posted soon!

Does this token count as a "toy?" We were giving them out for free so I guess we don't know business too well.

Click on the "Read more" below to find out what kind of day we had!

Since we started going to the Toy Fair several years ago, McDonald's now serves Hotcakes all day. But we still consider it a tradition to get some of these tasties before the show. Too bad they don't do the IHOP "unlimited Hotcakes" because we could eat about a million of these!

Oh.... !!!  Is that an ad for the return of the Shamrock Shake?!!! We certainly will plan to get one later!

Our closest train station in New Jersey. It's been a while since we've visited "The City" and my friend is worried he will get weird feelings but we're just going to go have a good time and try our best not to think about stuff. Sorry new visitors if that's sounds a bit mysterious.

These signs are new to us? Those trains can woosh by pretty fast so this might be an obvious thing but nice to have signs anyway.

At the train station ads for Paw Patrol.... Live? Is that like trained dogs? Wouldn't that be the coolest?

Yay it's New York! This walk over to the Javits Center is usually the coldest thing EVER as the wind really blows down the avenues, and even though it's supposed to SNOW later tonight, it wasn't that bad this year.

Welcome to New York as we pass this church statue in a glass box to avoid vandalism attempts.

We seem to take the same picture of the Javits Center each year so this time we wanted to show that it was next to the cold water, as you can see the Hudson River behind it.

Skipping over the Toy Fair pictures, as we left to explore our favorite stores, we passed this funny sign on the sidewalk. So do I have to tag this post with #WEAREFUCKED ? That's not the type of language I typically use around here!

We visited the Kinokuniya bookstore which is the best anime and Japanese mega store you'd ever expect to see outside of Japan. When we saw the Rilakuma display we realized in our rush around the Toy Fair this year, we neglected to visit the Rilakuma booth! Argh that was a huge regret but his bear still cheers us up even if we missed him at the Fair this year.

Plenty of anime video game merch here. These picture books are from the Senran Kagura games. Google them if you dare but they are on Nintendo systems so it can't be as bad as you think, right?

Our pal Hatsune Miku in a race car Nendoroid figure! We were trying to figure out why these are priced differently? Maybe it will just cost you over $100 more if you don't buy the cheaper ones first? That's a really progressive pricing strategy because you wait to buy it, if you have to buy the expensive one?

Very disappointed with the NBC store and the almost total lack of Olympic merchandise. There were a couple of NBC Sports shirts and ONE generic Olympics-on-NBC shirt. We were hoping to bring a White Tiger home with us. At least they had this super-cool Medal Stand for me to stand on! What is the Equestria national anthem? So worth waking up at 5 am every morning to train all those years!

Nice picture of the snow falling in Rockefeller Plaza! It was really beautiful. It seemed the snow turned to slushy mess about 10 feet from the ground so it was falling like snow but it felt like rain.

We'll post the Nintendo Store pictures later but we ran through the Lego Store to see if there was anything new. Some kind of event was going on this weekend?

Disney Store! We did not see the Olaf's Frozen Adventure yet but Kitten here was very cute!

Hmm... This AT-AT is from Rogue One which was not the most recent Star Wars movie? Slackers! Haha just kidding Disney Stores have the best displays.

Here's the GAP store that took over the good "corner spot" from Toys R Us. Finally open, we thought it would be fun to get out of the rain for a minute and check it out.

The inside was completely unrecognizable from the old Toys R Us. Like they completely wrecked it and rebuilt everything! No wonder it took so long to re-open.

We actually stopped in to switch our portable phone chargers. We had brought two of them and the phone was running through power today! Then we looked over and saw this thing about free charging? We didn't feel like taking the time to figure this out, but if you are in Times Square and need your phone charged here's the tip for you!

Random Storm Trooper Executioners walking around outside this Broadway Theatre. Hehe I feel like Rebel Scum sneaking a picture of them?

A highlight of the whole day. We were very worried a "New York Pizza" slice was not going to be as good as we remembered, but it totally was.

Back at Penn Station waiting for the train back to New Jersey. All these random ads for trips to Scottsdale Arizona struck us as very funny. My two good friends who shall remain anonymous? Should they move to Arizona??!!

Trying to get a snow picture out of the train window. I'll randomly mention that we got an exercise bike this winter since we like actual-bike riding so much, and thought it would be good um, exercise. Well it turns out that WALKING is different than biking, because walking around all day had my hooves really hurting! We left NYC earlier than we wanted because we were so exhausted.

Arrived back in New Jersey to piles of snow everywhere.

Who ever feels like cleaning snow off of a car? It was a little funny that many people were doing it at the same time because we all got off the train at the same time. Like an odd ballet of sorts.

We scored a few free goodies but honestly were not trying very hard this year for the swag. The pictures are like swag, right?

One of the best things EVER we got  at the Toy Fair thanks to our pal at the Nintendo Plushies booth. We pulled this Zelda: Breath of the Wild Nendoroid Link figure out of the random vending machine and bored him with our excitement over the game he had yet to play. Haha isn't it fun trying to hype something up or listening to somepony else trying to hype something up for you? So many passionate fans of stuff at the Toy Fair that was happening all day!

This is a bit of a "cheat" picture, since the snow had closed the McDonald's early for our trip home from the train station. We sure felt like we still deserved one the next day so yes we did go get one! Stay tuned for crazy toy pictures!
