It's a little clever and cute and maybe a little idiotic that The Outer Banks is abbreviated as "OBX." Seriously where do they get an "X?" Is that a pirate thing where X marks the spot?

Yarrr! Stopped into a "tourist shop" because those are always fun to see. This be an adorable pirate octopus.

Sure? Why not laser guns? There's a beach, and pirates, and mermaids, and um, dolphins? and... laser guns? Kids love things that make noise who cares if it's relevant to the theme.

This funny shark shovel will allow you to make a super sand castle. I wonder how the painting would hold up under intense digging? This just looks fun.

Painted hermit crab shells? Pretty sure I've posted pictures of these before.

There are actual hermit crabs living in these paints shells. Do you think they have opinions on the designs? like "Aw man, I got a cool one!"

This guy climbed to the top and looks a little stuck. But I bet he'll be okay.

Huh-huh balls. I know they mean "in the store" but imagine why would you buy them if you couldn't play with them or throw them? For decoration?

 We did not go into the House of Hemp, but it's here in case you feel a bit more adventurous than we felt.

Local toy shop had a Signature Engraving machine, which my friend used to work with at his old job. He was giddy to see it, those machines were quite versatile and tough.
