Never Bored

Hanging out with my friend where he works. One particular morning there was not much work to be done, so of course we had to pony-up the place and find something to entertain us. If anybody in management is reading this and can break the barrier of internet-blogging anonymity, this was all MY idea. Your actual employee was working hard while I was the one playing around.

These are bobbin cores. I won't get all technical here, but they are used in sewing machines. We keep them so that they may be recycled (yay recycling!) The little dark band around the end is a tiny magnet. Not a very strong magnet but still, magnets equals fun!

After spilling them out and messing around a bit, it became apparent that they can connect together in 2x2 squares that can then be stacked up. After a few failed attempts at stacking them all at once, we tried making smaller stacks...

So here is the victory of the entire jar stacked up. It wasn't easy. It was coincidence that the jar had a multiple-of-four number of cores. You can do the math and count them if you are curious about how many bobbin cores  fit in a 2-inch diameter x 2 1/2 inch tall jar.

Shortly after taking this picture we got a ton of work and were mega-busy the rest of the day. Yeah. Busy. Not slacking at all. I said NOT slacking.
