The Hunt!

More pictures from our trip down to Virginia!

The family continues the tradition of the yearly Egg Hunt for all of the grown-ups, usually some time after Easter. Hidden in the eggs are a year's-worth of loose change, and there are contests to guess what the unknown total will be. Here we are taking a picture of an egg, wasting valuable time that could be used to gather more eggs!

Click on the "Read more" below to find more eggs!

Check out these roses growing on the fence! Thorns and all. They say every rose has it's thorns... just like every night has it's dawn. Wait, we're looking for eggs! Stop checking out the roses! Is this some kind of trick?

Some of them are just tossed in the lawn. Usually a few are super-hidden and there is a great competition to find the last few eggs, but this year we were all on the A-game and got them all on the first pass.

We managed 26 eggs out of the 212 that were hidden. There were a dozen people in the hunt, so we did pretty good.

We scored $21.45 which is an average of $.82 per egg. The total was $147.14 which averages out to $.69 per egg. That means we found a lot of "good" ones. And yes, we are only being so precise in documenting those numbers to help give us an advantage in the guessing contest next year.

We got to meet our newest family member. Named after a character from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She's a chihuahua and has the youthful energy of a thousand suns.

Nothing quite like hot dogs right off the backyard grill! Other people skipped lunch so we ate rather early, but we were still full of Shake Shack so we didn't eat as many of these as we would have liked. It's okay we were saving room for the cake later.

Fresh hand-made Cornhole bags! With the correct size dimensions and weight of corn stuffings. Only now did somebody point out that we have access to embroidery machines, and could have custom-embroidered graphics on these. There was enough leftover fabric to take home some sets, so we're excited to have a new project to work on.

I'm worth one point now, but three if I fall in this hole. If you are reading this and have never played Cornhole, it's not popular by accident. The reason it's so popular is because it really IS a fun addictive game.

Fetch! That little dog can move at warp speed! It was cute that they had mini tennis balls as regular-sized ones would have been too big.

Awwwww yeah. Always ask for the corner piece to maximize the frosting. And if you didn't know this, Carvel Ice Cream Cake is THE BEST cake. By a wide margin. Nothing else is even close to this magical heaven of taste. One of the best parts about planet Earth and living, really. Does that sound too much like "Carvel send us some free stuff?"

Parked in my friend's neighbor's driveway is this car with the awesome wheels I just had to get a picture of. That looks like an Irish Triquetra knot design. Yes I had to look that name up, but I did recognize the pattern.

Fuddruckers has a NACHO BURGER? Yes, please. It was amazing.

My friend modified his home arcade cabinet to play over 2000 games! There's quite a lot of internet resources to help you do this, in case you didn't know this kind of thing was a thing, and you want one of these for yourself. Needless to say, a lot of afternoon was spent here.

Driving home, stopped at a light, glance over and see another car with awesome wheels!? Good thing the camera was handy. I'm not sure but that might be the same type of car, too. Who else wants sweet wheels on their car now?

We just thought of the modern slang term for "jealous" when we saw this now-unintentionally-funny sign that says "assorted jellies." Don't be jelly.

Where's Minty? I jumped out of the pocket and was found here. So I guess I get to be an embarrassing almost-lost picture now? Hey, I was found. No big deal.
