Disney & M & Ms

Did I skip a week? whoops! Thanks for checking back. This little batch of pictures if from my Holiday trip up to New York City. Just Disney and M&M store stuff, but there's a lot of neat things to see in each of those places.

Where's The Disney Store? Most of them have closed down, but there are still a couple open outside the theme parks. Times Square is one of 'em! This is right in the middle of where all the tourists go.

Super adorable Frozen plushies! These small things had the big price tag of $17 each. There are no small purchases here.

These were a little bigger, but still adorable, Anna and Elsa plushies. Don't worry, they're not all Frozen pictures. It's just popular so there's a lot of merch for it.

Do we all Remember Me what movie this is from? Do you need to hear the song?

There was a time when the Disney Stores were open in lots of malls and stuff, and those never got themepark-exclusive merchandise. All those other Disney Stores closed down, and now it looks like there is a lot of stuff here that was once only found only at the theme parks. Like this Droid Depot R2 Droid.

Here's some Marvel prop replicas. Around a hundred bucks each. Also theme park exclusive, my friend reminded me that a lot of this stuff is also available online now, too.

Sometimes I take pictures of the price tags so I can remember how much stuff was. This is a time stick from the TVA in the Marvel Loki show. Can I use it on this picture to get rid of it?

Lightsaber props! Is anyone else rolling thier eyes at the lost potential of Rey's Lightsaber? It was obvious the moment you first saw that staff she carried, in her first scene, that the top of it looked like a lightsaber. And indeed, when the series ended, she did have that, as her lightsaber. But it was such an afterthought, never a part of the story, and there was barely even a reason to show it at all.

I wonder if they put some kind of cute "face" on this little hover practice droid, would it have become another iconic character? We all recognize it though, even without it being a character.

Star Tours! The original Star Wars ride, that was done before Disney bought Star Wars. So this doesn't technically "count" as Disney Star Wars.

Pop Quiz! Who's Lightsabers are these? Somebody from that Acolyte show, I think. I don't know either. Did they erase that from official Star Wars, or what? I don't remember that, either. Cool lightsabers, though.

Hey if they are going to charge you hundreds of dollars, they can at least give you a fancy, universe-themed box to put it in. Wait, they DO?! Cool!

Our visit was when the Zootopia 2 movie came out, so there was a good section for it. Judy Hopps! This thing deserves a TV series, immediately. Animals, cop stories. How can that not be awesome?

Tinker Bell! Designer fashion merchandise with Disney characters is a lot more common these days. Is Kate Spade doing Disney a favor by doing bags for them, or is Disney doing the favor for Kate Spade, allowing them to use their characters?

I don't think there was a scene in Tangled where Rapunzel used her hair as a literal archery bow. But there could have been? Eh, either way, it's a cute toy.

Chip and Dale Xmas decoration plushie. Awesome.

Nice to see more Chip 'n' Dale merch. This sweater looks comfy.

I need sound effects to go along with these cups. The music for It's a Small World, and the little multi-language monorail speech "please stand clear of the doors."

I thought this might be cheeky to post this picture you are looking at, but did I really "make you look" at it? Even so, it's fun to carry something like this.

It's a paradox! It's a Disney Theme Park Pin, that you didn't buy at a theme park, it clearly says "New York" on it. Does it count, or not?

On to the M&M Store! Quick trivia answer: M&M stands for Forest Mars Sr. and Bruce Murrie. Eventually the first M, Forest Mars Sr., bought out the other M, but didn't change the name to just one M. Even though there IS only one M printed on the candy.

Three levels of M&Ms! is that like a total of 6 Ms? I thought the directory was funny, it should just say "M&Ms, duh..." for each level.

Who is your favorite character? Minty is green, so of course my favorite is green.

The famous color wall where you can fill a thing with your personal choice. It's like an art project you get to snack on.

Alright! My bike rides are working. Not even one ounce! It's funny that they give you a calculator to compute your price, as it's sold by the ounce. Can't we get some kind of computer over here? A calculator and a scale? Math? Really?

This was the closest lime green to Minty. Not very close, but did I expect them to match me?

Did you know the Green M&M used to have high heel sexy boots, but they recently changed it to sneakers. And they also made her "nicer" but I guess this shirt still maintains some of her original edginess.

So Purple gets clunky boots? And gets to be a bit ditzy. Eh, it's candy. Don't be so serious about the characters.

Various mascots illustrated on the walls by the stairs. Which one is, or was, the best?

Giant windows! Hi New York! Come in here and get some candy covered chocolate bits!

Oh! I did find the not-peanut lime green M&Ms. I almost got some just to be silly about it, but then remembered I could probably just get a lot more M&Ms at a grocery store for the same price. I'm just going to eat them, after all.

How does one candy get a whole 3-level store full of it, and all this merchandise for it? Is it silly to simply say... It's a good candy? THIS good, though?

Hah! The first characters were literally stick figures. Classic.

I thought one of the coolest things there were the golf balls. In colors with the simple "M" on them like the candy. But $6 each was a little over my impulse purchase tolerance. It would be cool to have one, but six bucks?

Would you look at that. They had Minty M&Ms! Where's my sponsor deal? Get my agent on the phone!
