2019 New York Toy Fair Little Pony

Another quick group of pictures from the 2019 New York Toy Fair. There was enough "Pony" pictures to group them all together.

Here's anime-conversion figures of Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle from Kotobukiya. Is it odd that the coolest looking My Little Pony figures wind up being anime versions? Some pony fans might be upset to hear me say that. But look, they have real ponies next to them.

Clomp on the "Read more" below for more pony pictures!

Here's concept art and release schedules for the rest of the "Mane Six" My Little Pony characters. This art is so good, we want them to make this anime version for a real show. Just an episode or so. It would almost be a guaranteed lock to be popular.

It's not all My Little Pony ponies. These crazy graphic sea ponies looked collectible.

Another similar set of art design unicorns. This is series 6, so they must be somepony's favorite if they keep making sets to collect.

Okay here's something I stumbled across that might require a lot of explaining. We caught these ponies that looked similar to My Little Pony characters, and at first we just liked the creative character designs.

There was a whole display and several different characters, all of them  looked cool.

Turns out it was this thing called "Midnight Mares" which is, I guess, "professional" My Little Pony-themed original content?

See the company was already producing plushies for My Little Pony, and thought it would be easy to produce it's own original characters, for Pony conventions and stuff.

Once they had their own characters, they got together episodes produced using artwork in the style of the modern My Little Pony shows. The episodes were not yet finished, but we were shown an impressive trailer for the project.

It all looked very "real" like an actual show. It's supposed to have "adult" themes like maybe some kind of Game of Thronies? While we were thinking about requesting they put Minty in the show, it would be horrible if I got blasted, so maybe just a background cameo in a non-explosion scene?

We were also shown another fan project called Fluffle Puff. This has a big pink fluffy character wordlessly interacting with MLP characters. It was cuteness overload. If you're in the mood for that sort of thing you should check it out.

There's a YouTube channel to check for updates. We'll be keeping an eye out for the Midnight Mares project. Maybe Hasbro will be, too?

Here's a steampunk sort of Midnight Mares character. Looks like a robot leg of some kind, that must be part of the grown-up content they were talking about. Kids might not be ready for any scene that rips off a pony's leg.

This is not really pony-related, but the Midnight Mares booth had this odd mascot character for PC Richard & Son and we spent a moment trying to figure out what it was. Turns out it was based off of a NY Yankees promo and is a whistle. Yeah.

This is Bob Belcher from the show Bob's Burgers. They had an episode where they went to a pony convention for their My Little Pony parody show called Equestranauts. He had to go undercover as Bobcephala to get back his daughter's rare figure the adult male pony fans swindled off of her. The episode was a little insulting to the pony fans but it was really only the one bad guy. Anyway, it's fun to see a sort-of My Little Pony version of Bob.

Here's some adorable My Little Pony figures in blind boxes Dressed to Impress. Should we be worried, or notice at all, that pony characters generally walk around NOT wearing outfits, if sometimes they do?

They might not be painted yet, but this gives you an good idea about the size of these figures. And blank preview figures are kind of cool on their own since you know you'll never be able to purchase one. Also, I thought we got a better picture of the giant plush behind them but I guess not. Sorry. It's a Rainbow Dash in a hoodie and big thick nerd glasses.

This display was auto-stomping these kids shoes that make unicorn sounds. They were doing an actual Press interview when we walked by, so we couldn't really hear what the sounds were, or interrupt them to ask.
