Non-2019 Toy Fair pictures

We'll take a break from the 2019 New York Toy Fair with some pictures taken in the city for our trip.

When we took this picture we thought for sure we'd delete it later because it looked blurry. But Minty is perfectly focused, and it turns out it looks like good art. You know; that scene in the movie where the character looks overwhelmed by the "big city?"

Let's wander around, click on the "Read more" below.
As Star Trek fans, we got a kick out of this graffiti tag. Welcome to New York City from...... KHAN!!!!

We went down the wrong avenue to get to the Javits Center and saw The High Line up there! It only took a moment of pause to think, yes we are indeed going up there for a few minutes.

Whatever this The Shed thing is, it's not open yet. Maybe some other day we'll find out what's in there.

The High Line is a railway they covered and converted into a walking trail.  The rails are still visible in the ground.

Not sure why this part is fenced off. Looks like there are benches in there. Would they fence it off just because they are too lazy to mow that patch of weeds?

We laughed that this sign seemed like something a Jedi Master would say. Stay on the Path. Protect the Plants.

Well, there's the Javits Center where we were supposed to be. Instead we're spending time here on The High Line. Do we have to go to the Toy Fair?

Looks like the trail curves around the back and down a lot further. Oh well. it was fun for a few minutes. We really couldn't go all the way over there. maybe some other day.

We went down and had to go back a lot to get around the construction. We passed the new area Hudson Yards and saw this thing in the distance.

It's called "The Vessel" and it's just a weird thing you walk up and around. We totally would have went up but it's not open just yet. Soon though. They are putting all kinds of apartments around this it's a whole big deal.

You can probably tell that it's night time and we've left the Toy Fair. At Bryant Park they had a giant umbrella promoting a new show.

Looping an ad for The Umbrella Academy on Netflix. We should probably be a little more impressed with the projection of the video onto the umbrella panels.

Again pondering taping myself to the window to sneak onto the Today Show.

We were pretty exhausted from walking around all day, and were taking a break to recharge. Haha recharge the phone, too. The theory is that Starbucks mis-spells the names on purpose, to generate free publicity when people share pictures for laughs.

We were maybe going to wander around the M&M store, but looks like the down escalator was out and would leave you trapped! At least you won't starve with all the M&Ms up there.

Did we see this odd thing before? It's the classic work crew sitting on the skyscraper girder statue on top of that truck parked over there. Is that going into a display somewhere? Or is it just parked there? I feel like we've seen it before.

Sure, there's a big Red X in the middle of Times Square. We don't know what it's for but we better get a picture of it anyway.

Giant TV screen right above the Disney Store showing an ad for Kingdom Hearts 3. The Disney Stores are infamous for having exactly zero merchandise for Kingdom Hearts games, so we are counting this as acknowledgement of some kind. Also, spoiler alert but it looks like the main character Sora is unlocking "Love" with the girls from Frozen? Haha he's a player alright! Certainly no innuendo from that giant key's position...

Glanced down the street and saw the theatre for the Harry Potter show. So this is a reminder to all the Harry Potter fans that yes, there is more content available if you can afford the trip and tickets.

Decided to splurge on the dinner and eat at an old favorite place, Dallas BBQ. They told us there was no wait time, but between when we got there and started eating it was almost a whole hour. We had forgotten it was Valentine's Day weekend so being there alone, for so long, with no power on the phone to keep us busy, was extra awkward.

We asked the waiter to bring us one of the cocktail umbrellas and were surprisingly very cheered up by it.

Finally the food arrived. We were doubting our decision to eat here, but as soon as we tasted these baby back ribs, we thought what an awesome idea it was and we were very happy we went.

Again with the Valentine's Day torture, we noticed they were bringing out free little cakes for everyone. My friend thought it was going to make him sad but honestly when they brought him one it cheered him up a little. It helped  that it was super tasty, too.

From this angle, it looks like that TV screen ad for Captain Marvel is just as tall as the Empire State Building! Even if that's not true, it's still like a five-story-tall screen.

Thanks to the extreme wait at the usually-quick Dallas BBQ, we are catching the next train down at 12:14. In case you can't read this schedule, If we stayed in the city for another hour, and missed the 1:22, We'd have to wait until 5am for the next trip down! Would it be fun to figure out what to do with that time if we had to?
