This seems like forever ago when we took these pictures! It's Fall now and posting pictures from bike riding in the Summer? Maybe it can help it not feel as much like Fall just yet.
This bunch of pictures is from a return trip to the D&R Canal State Park. We hit the trail and decided to go north for a whole hour before turning around. Here's our "starting" point which was the furthest we had previously gone.
Click on the "Read more" below to see how far we went?
You can see the water near the edge is quite clear and you can see the stuff on the bottom. Any treasures down there?
Passed some kind of... thing? Anypony know why there would be random pipes?
Approaching some kind of dam? Dam!
Water flowing through this passage was cool looking. Kind of surprised there was no sort of fence or barrier or anything to prevent ponies from just falling in? Common-sense carefulness was obvious?
Old house, looked like it might be a tourist info kind of place but it wasn't open.
Here's a road, so maybe figure out how far away we are from home?
Back on the trail on the other side of the road. More trail!
We took a picture of the horse shoe, but there was other.... evidence... of horses. Or something else that would leave giant piles of.... stuff... on the trail.
Dark tunnel in the distance might seem like infinity! This trail might go on forever!
As we thought, approaching horse group. We moved off to the side on our bike to let them pass.
During our brief conversation as they passed, they advertised their horse rental business. We were on a mechanical kind of horse?
Here's an info plaque we passed. Might not be a good enough picture to read it. Admiral Ackbar would say "It's a TRAP!"
Look at that overgrown grass in this outline of a used-to-be-old-house. Imagine living there? Made of stones it's like a mini castle.
Check out the arrow pointing to where we were.
We dared to go in the tall grass to get a picture of the sign. A little like a Pokemon game? So let's see what it tells us?
Canal Road? Really? Is that helping us any? We already know we are on the Canal trail.
Nice view of the river from the bridge on the road.
Once more across the road and back on the trail! How much longer until our hour is up? Not much longer.
Down in the woods next to the trail there was another old castle home. My friend said if he was younger he would have been all over that place, but it was so overgrown it looked like it would be a lot of work to explore that place.
Another spillway place will be our turning around point. It takes us a half hour to get to the canal and we went another hour, so we were about an hour and a half to go to get back home?
Sign next to this spillway so we have a nice arrow pointing to how far we went. We wondered how long it would take to go all the way to the end? Is there a prize at the end?
On the way back we passed this Trail to Rockingham. We thought about the Flintstones and maybe this was some kind of magic portal trail? Rockingham sounds like the type of place Fred Flintstone would go.
Another shot of crazy dangerous water gate as we return home. Our bike is not as near the edge as this picture looks, we were extra careful!
