We've been to a few Toys R Us stores recently and by the time we post these picture, they are no more. I'll try not to make anypony sad about the loss and instead post up some pictures we took from the crazy sales and store wrecks.
I never really thought about this until now, but I bet they would have sold us the giant store signs. What would anypony do with that? Imagine having that giant thing in your back porch? Would that be cool?
There's still some fun to be had! Click on the "Read more" for more pictures!
They were clearing out the online-shopping warehouse by shipping things to the stores. So things like THIS started showing up, and on clearance! This is the $270 Jokerland Lego set from the Lego Batman movie. It was %30 off which still put it at a whopping $190. Still way above our budget allowance, but very fun to see it and be tempted.
Whoa. Can a price scanner scan itself? You could buy one!
Um, excuse me? What's this a Shopkin of? Shame on you, Shopkins!
Looks like there was a secret staircase in the corner. In the chaos we were thinking about mindlessly exploring up there, but chickened out.
It was probably a good thing we didn't, because while we walked under the hidden upstairs storage area we were hit in the face by a strong odor of, well what would you expect to smell at a Willy Nelson concert?
One thought we had was to buy a keyboard on clearance an maybe learn to play a little. But the only ones that were left were a little "kiddie" and we were thinking of regular-sized keys would be best.
Hey, we need to buy this door alarm but like NOW for no reason. Hey I came in here with this backpack full of stuff.
This spot was a Toys R Us Outlet store in the mall. Closed a few weeks before the others.
We legit had an opportunity to buy this T-Rex for $800. That doesn't sound too bad, considering the question of where else could you get such a thing. Our problem was we had no way to transport this or nowhere to put it. Still it was fun to think about.
Haha I thought about getting this bag for a friend, who is probably reading this and rolling his eyes. And no, my friend's name is not "Bieber" lol.
Picked up some Toys R Us exclusive Hatchimals Owlicorns. I'm happy we got the ones that were Minty-colored. The egg-hatching effect was surprisingly cool. You have to hold the egg in your hand to warm it up, and then it kinda feels like really cracking an egg.
The employee who was standing next to this sign saw us take the picture and then asked to not be posted online. So we took another picture. Obviously this sign is no longer accurate.
Giant cardboard box with Pikachu! We were very tempted to haggle for this thing but ultimately it looked like it was too big to fit in our car. That thing was guaranteed to make us smile every morning.
As it sold through the stuff, merchandise was consolidated in areas which left other areas empty. It was a gradually-growing sadness to the empty space.
The random grouping of merchandise revealed things you might not be looking for. This is a cute idea, I guess, but it left my friend wondering if there was a bachelor party version of this thing available?
Another shot of vast empty shelves. Anypony need some shelves? They'd have sold them to you.
Less than a week to go, and the wrecking begins. I guess they need to empty these buildings totally.
How many pictures of trash piles inside a store do we need? It's kinda neat to see stuff you don't normally get a chance to see, right?
There's where it used to be the video game section. They used to take trade-ins of old games. Is there anywhere to trade in an old store that you don't need anymore? Oh,... too soon? Sorry.
I had to leave with the Pixar-level teary-eye picture of this "I'll always be a Toys R Us kid" poster that was on the floor. Where will future generations of kids go? Will their stories be "I remember my Mom and me clicking around the websites all afternoon?" #alwaysatrukid !
