Summer Games

Back with some more pictures! Random ones from wherever we felt like sharing.

I didn't forget this year! Every Summer the world of Neopets holds a tournament they call The Altador Cup. The soccer-like game is Yooyuball, and you can support a team of your choosing by playing various games. Go Virtupets! Reading the team bios, it mentions Sela Pretore's weakness is Inexperience, yet she's been playing for nearly 14 years. Hmm, time to update the bios?

That sticker on the pole over there in the Wendy's Drive Thru says "Pond Hop".... What did you think it said? Hahaha yeah, that's why we took this picture.

Freeze-frame during the credits on the new Disney+ show Loki. Check it out, it lists his gender as "Fluid" since he's (they've?) disguised himself (themselves?) as a woman before. That's some pretty good commitment to one's disguises!

A few weeks ago we got an actual burnt burger from Dairy Queen, a fast food place, and now a burnt chicken patty at McDonald's? It wasn't so burnt that we couldn't eat it, but still very unusual, right?

[whiny voice] What is the deal with POP! Figures? I mean, they don't "Pop" at all. Maybe those big heads are... full of helium? Did anybody try popping one? Wouldn't it be wild if that was what you were supposed to do with them this whole time? POP! POP! POP! Well, there goes my collection!

The original action figure was simple called Snaggletooth and it was the Star Wars Customizable Card Game that started giving "real" names to a lot of the background aliens like Walrus Man and Hammerhead. As fans of the SWCCG, we find it cool whenever we see these names carried on, especially since under the Disney ownership, those names might be subject to change if they feel like it, or simply don't check.

Buy twenty Hot Wheels cars, print out and fill in some kind of paper, mail in original receipts... seems like an awful lot of work for one free car that technically would cost 1$. Let's not forget that stamp on the envelope! Yeah but also, seriously what amount of work is it for Mattel to package and mail all of those 1$ cars? Is this the silliest promo we've ever seen?

Cat Peach! We haven't gotten a Mario Kart game in a while, I guess you can play as Cat Peach now? This package doesn't mention which particular game she is in, the last Mario Kart we had was 8, but on the Wii-U.

Why am I so sad? Maybe I should climb out of this bowl of onions. Then I would be less sad. Maybe I was never sad, I just surrounded myself with onions. Do you have any onions in your life? I'm not really sad, I'm just trying to sound poetic in a bowl of onions.

"I trust your journey from London has been a happy one, and that you will enjoy your stay in my beautiful land. Your friend, D." The monologued letter read at the beginning of Bram Stoker's Dracula is especially funny for us, like, what was the point of "D."? The title of the movie is "Dracula" so of course you know what the "D." is for!

Walked into the Build-a-Bear since we've not been there in a long time. Grogu is here! And we hardly recognized Rey, and once we noticed she had her hair down, it dawned on us that she always wore her hair in the silly three-buns-ponytail style, for all the movies. She would have looked good with her hair down!

Hmm... are these new? I probably would have gotten a Harry Potter outfit before, so these must be new. It's just so obvious! This should have been done years ago! So it must have, right? Or... maybe these are new?

Made our way back to the awesome Andy's Brick Shop to see what they got! We made a whole post about them last time so I only got a few more pictures that day.

One of the best things about Lego is; Hey, if they never make something you want, just make it yourself! Fire the Wave Motion Cannon! Who else can remember the Star Blazers theme song? "We're off to outer space, we're leaving Mother Earth, to save the Human race! Our Star Blazers!"

Another good thing about Lego is that you can let your imagination become real! Take this Mystery Machine AT-AT Walker! Here at Andy's Brick Shop, it's got a price tag on it, too, if you want. $250? Zoiks!

Hahaha! Yeah! But... I'll be the nerd to point out you can't say "A Lego" because "A Lego" isn't a thing. You have to say "A Lego BRICK".

Thanks to the Covid shutting down all the conventions last year, we actually found that Wonder Woman comic cover convention-exclusive set at a nearby WalMart. They are putting convention exclusive sets in those different-style boxes, there's a few more here if you missed out on some conventions.

Hahaha! Spaceballs the Minifigures! I can see Dot, Princess Vespa, and.... is that "Comb the desert guy?!" A long time ago, Mel Brooks asked George Lucas if he could make a Star Wars parody, and Lucas said Sure! Just... don't make any merchandise, none at all.

I jumped onto the floor to take a picture next to this, and some very un-aware guy nearly trampled me! Dude! You just saw me over here taking a picture, right? This hobby does have a little bit of danger, I guess.

Here's the figures we got that day! Angelica from Pirates of the Caribbean 4 is listed online at $45! She only came in one big set a long time ago. That sticker on her that says "Torso" must refer to her cracked side which probably accounts for the low price. It's very common for Lego to put the female characters in the big expensive sets. That's why it appears like we get a lot of girl figures here. Hmm... That didn't sound right. Is my friend picking up single girls at the mall? ...Technically?

GIANT LEGO MINIFIGURES seen on display in a newly-renovated Target store. Of course, I had to climb up here for a picture right above the sign that says Do Not Climb.

These new G.I. Joe figures disappear quickly off of shelves, it's rare to even see one at all in a normal store. Major Bludd is a classic Cobra villain, with his eye patch, metal arm, and "bunch of dog tags necklace" it looks like he's be through some STUFF. And c'mon, how awesome is the name "Major Bludd"?

The opening of Bob's Burgers has a couple of recurring gags. The constantly-changing store next door, and the pest control truck that shows up, are different for each episode. This one episode had funny King of The Hill references, Dale's Dead Bug is taken right from the other show, but also Hank Hill would pronounce propane as "Pro-Pain" which is a little extra funny to see the store next door's name, and you can imagine his reaction to that store.
