Today is What?

Let's take a break from our worries with some pictures I took a while ago.

This plaque is oddly vague about what it implies, but if you needed any kind of inspiration for whatever; today is the day. Maybe it's the day for checking out my silly pictures, at least.

We were at the Oxford Vally Mall and the Andy's Brick Shop store that sells old Lego sets. $14 for a fresh The Simpsons figure? How good are your pack-squishing skills? D'oh!

Shocked as I was to see The Simpsons minifig packs, I was even more shocked to see the original Series 1 packs! Released in 2010, Lego famously underestimated the popularity, and they wound up being hard to find. They released more but due to the previous shortage, those all disappeared, too. Even at $20 per pack, I wonder how quickly these will go.

The original Lego Galaxy Explorer! Used, of course, but still marked up to $600! Hey, it's got the box, too. Collectors will tell you that's worth a few hundred dollars itself!

Don't be too excited about that Galaxy Explorer, Lego recently did an anniversary remake of the set, which is much larger and modern, and only $100 right now in 2022. The original was released in 1979, so who knows how much this one will be worth 43 years from now.

10 points to whatever house can name these Harry Potter characters! I don't want to say it's easy; it depends on how well you know that series.

Midnight Oiler on the side of this plane looked like an old movie reference I couldn't remember. Turns out it's for Jurassic World Dominion which is a new-ish movie. I guess that depends on when you read this. At some point in the future that's going to be "an old movie", too.

'MERICA! This is a 10-year-old set and $12 seems like about what it would be worth without an old-set markup. We were in a curious mood and picked it up. The box was totally sealed, it was a brand-new set.

This thing is way too creepy to be an actual Lego set. But it is. It's not hard to believe that Bionicle was a popular series with cool figures like this.

If you know what this sexy character is all about, you're laughing right now. This is the ninja school student Naruto. HE uses an "attack" that makes him appear to be a super hot girl, and while his opponent is "distracted", he nails them. Ever wonder why Naruto is so popular? It's fun things like this.

Last year I got someone the Animal Crossing day-to-day calendar and they liked it so much they basically asked for it again next year. So I picked it up the first time I saw it.

Why can't we still have pink things equal "girl" automatically? This Baby Ewok is probably a girl, but I feel bad now jumping to that conclusion.

I don't really understand the connection between Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Stranger Things. I mean, it's obviously the "80's"... They might have mentioned TMNT on the show, but it was never part of anything that happened, right?

Do we need the Cylon eye to be moving back-and-forth? Eh, it's still cool. But it would be cooler if it moved.

Metroplex used to transform into a whole city. This new version transforms into one of those giant excavation machines, which are certainly huge things. Like, building-sized. So it's kind of impressive, but not when you compare it to a whole city.

I thought it would be cool to show that old Lego set we picked up. It was indeed un-opened and fresh!

I only took a picture of the bottom of the box so I could remember it was from 2012. What were you doing in 2012? Hmm... what was "I" doing in 2012?! Ouch... I just made my friend sad.

There were stickers involved. Sometimes we put them on and sometimes we don't. This one seemed like the type of set that needed them. The feature that flips the minifigure out of the car when it crashes is pretty fun.

The new Star Wars series Andor is so cool that even the extra-horns goat in the background is the best thing I've seen in Star Wars in a long time. And that's just an extra-horns goat in the background. The rest of the show is that level of good, too.

SIX POUNDS OF NACHO CHEESE! I sooooo wanted to get one of these just so I could rediculously scoop two hoof-fulls out of it and do the whole "oooohhhh yummmmmm!" and mash it all on my face. Why else would you need this much cheese?!

How much of a spoiler is it for Lego to show a figure named Black Panther and it has the "girl-torso-contours" on it? I mean, we all know about the new Black Panther movie, this can't be a surprise to anybody.

Ever wonder how much bigger the Avatar people are next to the normal humans? Sorry, I know they are called Navi, I didn't mean to be disrespectful, it's just everybody else probably just says "those Avatar people". When did Avatar get a fancy logo? That big "A" with the creature in the middle?

Remember when Transformers had the little bio-card on the back with information about the character? Scan that QR code, now! There's no reason to not put it on the box, look at the empty space next to the QR code! This is silly, right?

They shipped this Hot Wheels Target Truck, to a Target... ON a Target truck! Check out the other car it comes with that looks like a Target shopping cart! Put it in your shopping cart at Target!

This super small Micromachine Firebird is an Autobot named Tracks. My friend wants it sooo bad, but alas you have to buy this whole $20 giant Optimus Prime playset to get it. These don't transform into robots, they are just Micromachine cars that are to be played with as tiny cars, not robots.

Can we think of some Darth Vader snowman puns?
Where's Padme? ....
SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW!
