Disney Springs 2019

Still posting pictures from our Disney World vacation! Leaving Epcot "early" we headed right over to Disney Springs. Well, we did hop back to the Hotel to get the "real" credit card, assuming the stores might not accept the Magic Band, but then back out to shop! Who wants s'more souvenirs?

Remember where the bus dropped you off! I wonder if these stores pay extra for the near-bus locations. I'm trying to figure out a clever way to point out the "Coach" store which has an old coach-and-buggy logo, and that's basically an old-time bus. So that's easy to remember where the buses are. Sort of.

Here's an extra picture I took a few days ago, notice the daylight? This advertises a Star Wars VR thing available at Disney Springs. We didn't get a chance to do this thing, but I wanted to post the picture so we'd remember to look into this for next time. As long as we research how "clean" they clean the VR headsets between uses, this looks like it would be a lot of fun.

Here's the map, so don't get lost! Looking over this right now, I notice the Coca-Cola store has a rooftop lounge. I wonder if they have the "Cokes of the World" is up there, since that part was closed in Epcot? Maybe I could have still gotten some of that tasty, tasty Beverly.

We had a few hours to spend here, but it's a pretty large place. Coming here at night was a much better decision than trying to go in a panic in the morning before we had to leave for the airport.

Looks like this fountain is supposed to greet you outside the parking garage. This is the part of Disney you don't need to buy a ticket to get into. It's like only the gift shop part of the theme parks, mixed in with a regular giant shopping mall.

I guess "regular' malls don't have these giant Lego brick statues all around a Lego Store, do they? This Maleficent Dragon and Knight have been here for a long time now, but it's still as cool as ever. I wonder if the weather is having any effects on it?

Rey and BB8! Standing in a desert of Lego bricks. Ugh who wants to sort that mess! That's somebody's nightmare for sure.

Since we have a few of these Lego Stores near us in New Jersey, this is not as exciting as it should be. But this Pick-a-Brick Wall is still like three times the size as the stores around us. And we asked; yes the Lego Store here accepts the Disney Magic Band pay scan, they said most of the shops here can do it.

This is what we came here to check out. We've heard about this and had to go see it in action. It's the Minifigure Factory! It's kind of small, so is this a mini minifigure factory?

Step one, pay for the thing. You get an activation card to use at the station when one becomes available. Then you use the big touch pad screen to customize your own minifigure torso! There's all kinds of blank patterns and graphics, you can add words, re-size things, even scribble with your finger to draw your own thing! It's pretty overwhelming with the amount of options available.

When you are done, it queues up in the printer. Take this time to pick the rest of your figure parts out of the nearby build-a-minifig bins.

There's little plastic jigs that the torso and 3x1 bricks plug into. The factory worker smooths them down with a block of wood so they are nice and flat before printing. Nobody was watching this, but how can I be the only curious pony? I guess we do similar work, so it's more interesting to us.

Here's our completed figure! Chomp! Notice the hand-scribbled scribbles. The back was printed, too, It had a big shark on it. Is $12 too much for one minifigure? This was a Xmas gift for our friend Chomp.

The Minifigure Factory ate up a ton of time as we checked out all of the options, and then had to wait for our figure to print. there's a lot of neat things in the store, like this Harley Davidson motorcycle. How can they have this and NOT let you take a picture sitting on it?

Lego mosaics are like ancient video game pixel art. So there's multiple levels of nostalgia to be had looking at this kind of thing.

Life-sized Darth Vader made out of Lego bricks. Impressive. Most Impressive. Some Lego purists might not like the lightsaber is not made of "real" Lego bricks.

At night time, with the lights from below, this Cinderella looks a little like she's had enough, and is not going to take it anymore. Run, evil Stepmom! RUN!

Shattered rocks from somewhere in Disney Springs. Should my friend be greedy and post a picture only for himself without explaining it in the caption? It still is just a pretty picture to look at, I guess.

World of Disney! As apposed to um, Disney... World? Oh I get it now. Wait,... um, I guess they meant to do that. Now I wonder if the one in California is called Land of Disney?

This place used to be a giant maze of Disney merchandise. It's been hollowed-out and is now a lot easier to navigate. Although it doesn't seem like it has as much stuff in here somehow. But there's still lots of stuff.

I have a separate group of pictures for all of the crazy merchandise, here's a sneak-peek; it's a Toy Story-themed Haunted Mansion mug. Instead of hitchhiking ghosts, this teases that "A Toy Will Follow You Home" That's like, deep yo.

Realizing that we didn't really have as much time as we thought we did, we wandered off to see the rest of the shops. There were several live music stages, and we got a little smile out of the "Jersey Boys"-style quartet singing here. You know, since we came from Jersey and all.

There's an art store that sells the nice art pieces. Here's a Country Bear Jamboree piece that's missing our new-favorite "Blood on the Saddle" Bear.

Mickey, indecisive about being a Mets fan or Yankee fan. That's the magic of Mickey Mouse, he can be both! Had to stop by the Pin Trader store, of course.

The Once Upon a Toy shop has shrunk a lot, I think the Stormtrooper VR thing is behind it now but we didn't have time to check.

This place actually had a small section of toys from the Avatar land. None of the plushies, though. They might have got us with one of those, since we kind of wanted one but didn't get it when we had the chance.

I won't repeat the crude joke the loud drunk people said behind us repeatedly while we admired the view off this bridge. Something about drinking and fingers. That building over there looks like it's on fire? There's flames inside that window, what are they cooking?

It was getting late and we passed on going into the Coca-Cola Store. Not sure why exactly. Kind of shopped-out I guess. Later we realized we should have totally looked to see if they had a Star Wars aurebesh font logo t-shirt. That would be cool to have.

We briefly considered going into the Planet Hollywood to get a bunch of movie stuff pictures, but since we didn't eat there it felt like a hollow gesture. Maybe next time, we'll have a meal there and then get a some prop pics properly.

We were going to miss the bus system after the vacation. Sure, you have to wait a few minutes, sometimes a few more. But the relaxation of not having to drive and deal with traffic and parking and stuff was nice.
