Columbus Flea Market

Back to regular postings with an actual Adventure! Okay calm down, we just discovered another giant flea market. We all know 2020 was a bad year for exploring but we grabbed a mask and prepared to stay six feet away from everybody, and went to go take some pictures. Who's up for some treasure hunting?

The coworker who told us about this place was thinking of this, years ago, when they recommended the Berlin Flea Market. This place is a lot closer, but still about a forty minute drive. No we did not get a helicopter, this is the view from the web site. Would have been cool to get a helicopter though.

This place is near our closest Arby's. Not knowing what to expect with Covid dining restrictions at the flea market, we ate lunch there. And we normally get the French Dip with the dipping juice, but that wasn't going to work in the car so we went with their new Philly Cheesesteak. Not great but not terrible either.

There was plenty of parking. Who knows how much less crowded this was due to the ongoing pandemic. It seems a little silly to risk your life on a treasure hunt or silly photo hobby, but here we are anyway. I guess we can be more careful than frightened and it might balance out.

It's been quite a while since we've been to a flea market, and this one was all new for us. And with the lack of adventures this summer, we were looking forward to a fun day.

The very first shop on the other side of that door was nothing but Funko POP! Figures. And we found Waldo! Are we done? Noooo. Also, one of my friend's favorite Masters of The Universe characters right next to him, Triclops. And I should also mention it's always fun to see a plastic Plastic Man.

Did someone say Ch-Ch-Ch-Cheeeese? Honestly could have taken a ton of pictures here with funny quotes. That's POP! Figures in a nutshell.

Just one wide picture of the behind-the-counter super valuable POP! Figures. Zoom in and look around to see any rare ones you'd like. I'm going to mention, just because it's a very fun thing to say, there's an autographed Jesus figure there!

Out into the flea market we go! Here's a funny display about fixing up your basement. Because around here, houses have those. And they probably need cleaning.

Here's the map. We entered at 101 at the bottom left. It's one big walk to the other side, so it's not like we're going to get lost or anything.

Nice wide hallway. People wearing masks. It's crowded, but not enough to make staying six feet away from other people too difficult.

I don't try to get political here on this blog, but I'll point out that they were selling these shirts here. I didn't mean to upset anybody even though the message here is very upsetting. Sorry. Or maybe... Not sorry? Hey this message needs to get out there so it won't happen again. Still, I try to keep my pictures more lightly entertaining than this. Sorry about... that part of it.

It was very um,... funny? Is that the right word? That the very same booth was selling this outrageous Trump shirt. I guess they are not trying to be political either, just selling shirts. Whatever you want.

Back to fun with this flea market quality inflatable Minty-colored unicorn. Why does Minty have a very popular mint green-pink combo that seems duplicated a lot?

Here's a Jedi Knight with a particular set of skills; skills he has acquired over a very long career, skills that make him a nightmare for people like you. If you let his daughter go now, that will be the end of it. He will not look for you, he will not pursue you. But if you don't... He will look for you... he will find you... and... what am I doing here? Haha just got caught up in the moment.

That's pretty expensive but also super awesome figures of Electric Mayhem the band from The Muppet Show. This counts as a treasure but we don't have the room for it in our small apartment. Very cool though.

Hi fellow Mintys! Always nice to see myselves.

Woah! It's a Masters of the Universe Teela electric toothbrush? Back in the 80's electric toothbrushes were a new thing.

Part of the show Voltron was the characters discovering the locations of the hidden Lions. So here we see the Red Lion awaiting discovery. Are the other four Lions around the flea market somewhere else? Spoiler alert: No. We did not find any more Voltron Lions.

Random bin of wrapped-up toys! We wondered how many of them have Covid all over them? Haha just a funny thought to have in 2020 I'm sure they're fine. Most of them.

Random plushie bin. That cat in the bottom right wants to file all kinds of harassment suits against Pepe La'Pew. #metoo

Pretty sure I've posted pictures of a Xena figure from the Hercules: The Legendary Journeys before. Not a rare find at a flea market but always nice to be reminded of that fun show.

Another nice reminder, this one of the show Heroes. They dragged it out for several seasons but that first season is still solid gold viewing. This actor went on to do a lot of good shows.

Random bags of Lego bricks? Shouldn't you all have random bags of your own by now?

This guy busted us taking a picture of him playing that violin. He's giving us "a look" like, seriously guy, you're playing an actual violin, you didn't expect people to take pictures? We should be taking video.

One big picture of the whole rare-game cabinet so you can zoom in and hunt for treasures yourself. Star Control for the Genesis? That game was awesome!

Here's the top of the cabinet with the Sega Dreamcast games. The picture is kind of blurry but you should be able to zoom in and see them. Yikes, $80 for Capcom vs SNK? Well... that was an epic game.

Hey, remember the Intellivision?! Yeah. Nobody does. Haha sorry Intellivision fans. I'm an old game nerd, so of course I remember.

Gives me a smile to see games like this. It's American Chopper 2: Full Throttle. Like... this is the 2nd American Chopper game? Made from that funny TV Show where they construct custom motorcycles and yell at each other. It feels just right to find this game at a flea market.

Everybody knows Peppy Hare's quote! But if you don't I'll go ahead and say it: "Do a barrel roll!" That was a meme before memes were a thing.

When the concept of video games was "new" they tried out games like Plaque Attack. An attempt to market the game to the parents instead, like this will teach your kids to brush their teeth while they play. Could you image them trying that these days? Covid Attack: Wear Your Mask! AH! You're too close to somebody! SIX feet!

I poked fun at the Intellivision earlier but now see this Masters of The Universe game, and that looks cool. Does it still some with the comic? That alone might be valuable. Fun fact: the comics that came with the MOTU figures set records for comic sales since the figures outsold actual comic books at the time.

Who doesn't like having fun with the term "Hot Nuts"? Yeah it's a little juvenile humor, but yes please I'd like some hot nuts! I should have taken a video, this machine was constantly agitating the hot nuts, it was hypnotizing to watch. There was plenty more pictures of our adventure in the flea market, stay tuned for more batches!
