More Halloween Spirit 2020

Happy Halloween! It's disappointing that Halloween is on a Saturday this year, and yet we cannot go anywhere. Not technically, with y'know... the whole Covid thing. So stay safe and buy yourself your own candy, get in a costume, and chill out with another batch of pictures from the Spirit Halloween Store.

If you take a step back and think about Halloween... and why do we make a fun celebration out of this scary stuff? Eh, let's not try to analyze it and just admit it's fun and be okay with it. These are harmless props and not real things, so it's okay really... right?

Close-up on the cardboard skull. At least appreciate the engineering that goes into these things. Must have been a fun project for somebody to figure this out.

Pretty sure we've seen this before. Like every new employee here sees these evil crawling babies and gets the funny idea to pose them like this.  Maybe we should start separating them. But yeah, I'm not touching that.

Is this an opposite-Covid mask? This covers the other part of your face. Also, you think new superheroes come here and pick one out?

We all know that's the Elvish sword from Lord of The Rings, it's even got the elvish words on the side of it. How do they get away with selling this as a generic sword? Anybody care? No? Well... okay then.

This android mask is perfect for that person who doesn't feel like having any conversations at the party. Blank stares would be very much "in character". Be prepared to dance robot-style.

There are enough of these Spirit stores that pop up all over the country, that they can get exclusive merchandise. I guess technically POP! Figures can be party decorations, too. They must really love this Hocus Pocus movie because they get a new exclusive POP! Figure set each year.

Last year it was a spider skeleton, this year we get an even more ridiculous octopus skeleton. Somebody really has no idea how skeletons work. Although, it does seem like they could make a neat art exhibit out of the concept of things that don't have skeletons having skeletons.

We watched this Netflix series a while ago, so it was cool seeing the costume. The series was "okay" for a kid's show. I can kind of tell that I would have enjoyed it more if I was a kid, if that makes any sense.

I remember Carmen Sandiego using these in the show, but not exactly what for. I think it was her communicator? She worked with a team of people. I think binge-watching shows can leave them less-memorable sometimes. But for that one week you watched it, it was the coolest thing ever.

I should have just stopped right here. Boom. This costume wins the store.

Okay honestly the baby UPS delivery guy is awesome. Especially if you keep giving that kid boxes to hand to people. But who would want to dress up their kid as a garbage truck?

Sorry but.... BABY SHARK do do dodo dodo! Haha now you got the song stuck in your head! We ARE in a Halloween store and this does count as an unexpectedly "evil" costume because whoever sees it, gets the tune stuck in their head. Brilliant!

Always fun to see more Dungeons & Dragons merchandise. I guess we shouldn't expect a functional 20-sided dice container but we love the description of the candy as "+1 Cherry Potion".

Supernatural mug! That is: a mug for the show Supernatural. Not a mug, that has supernatural properties.

Got another laugh out of the word "squooshey" that we have seen before. Is that in the dictionary? It feels like it probably is but maybe not, it's so silly.

Pretend to give out flu shots at work! And instead just scribble on their shoulders.

Hey, she doesn't look so bad. What kind of threat is this? Is this a trick?

Just to remind everybody it's the year 2020, we got a display of non-costume face masks. I guess they are costume-adjacent.

This display "got" us. There was a foot pedal to step on, and after we tried it a few steps, it didn't seem to be working, so we turned to walk away and BAM! Got us. Haha was that on purpose?

This thing was grabbing the stake in it's chest and twitching around violently, it was very unsettling. But like, in a fun way. That's Halloween for ya!
