Halloween Spirit 2020

 Let's take a pause on those flea market pictures to get in the upcoming holiday um... spirit? Looks like it's become a yearly tradition to wander through the Spirit Halloween stores that pops-up in September. I think Covid is going to crush a lot of Halloween this year, Trick-or-Treating and Parties and such. So why are they selling this stuff? I'll stay away from that conversation and instead just make fun comments like usual.

These pictures were taken in early September when the store first "popped-up" so the selection was still fresh. Of course I waited until closer to actual Halloween to share these pictures.

The Spirit stores have all kinds of fun displays to fill up the space. They usually pop-up in very large empty store locations. That pig is going to make a barbecue out of YOU!

If there was ever any single costume that could be considered "appropriate" for the year 2020, it would be the medieval Plague Doctor costume.

Gotta love that adorable Jason t-shirt design! You gotta wear that on every month's 13th day, and see if people "get it".

What else needs to be said about the modern-classic David S. Pumpkins jacket? It's the scariest costume ever! ...Any questions?

Wow. This hat is a very real-scary cry for help. Is "not funny" a kind of "funny"?

Hmm... What do you think the VooDoo Doctor would have to say about Covid? You probably want to stay at least six feet away from the VooDoo Doctor.

Steampunk face mask! When the era of Covid face coverings started, we originally had a silly idea to buy a bunch of costumes to wear as "coverings" but decided against it because... it's just silly.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of the "frontline" hospital workers and nurses for taking such good care of us. If any kind of party is going to happen this Halloween, these will be popular costumes.

Is it respectful, or the opposite of that, to have a sexy religious costume? Hey it's a party, lighten up! Was that a pun? Oh, I should have said "en-lighten up"!

Official Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master costume? Awesome! Make sure to memorize some riddles and practice disappearing behind rocks after you give someone a quest.

This year's Kingdom Hearts life-sized Keyblade. It would be very cool to have a giant wall to collect these on. I've probably said that before, and I still don't have any such walls.

Colonel Sanders! You better make sure you know who's catering the party before you show up in this costume. Because I think you'll have a rough time if you show up in this, and there is no KFC chicken to be had.

Gotta notice, and give respect, to Disney for not making a "sexy" Buzz Lightyear costume. I know most adults use this party opportunity to make everything "sexy" but Toy Story is not that type of movie franchise. Good for you, Disney!

See? Spongebob made this "sexy". Everybody all night will be telling her it's Square"PANTS" not "Skirt". As she responds with a dull "Ha-ha-ha yeah that's only the hundredth time I've heard that."

Also, Harry Potter made sexy outfits from a kid's movie. I suppose the kids who grew up watching those movies are grown-up enough now to want sexy costumes, but it's still a movie about school kids.

In case you don't have your own Teddy Bear for your creepy doll costume, they have one for you. It's super adorbs. Also, I like that the VooDoo doll doesn't need any kind of disclaimer on it, like "for costume purposes only, not a real VooDoo doll".

This is funny. That's it. If you want a costume that's got a high chance of making everybody recognize the joke and laugh, it's this.

Oooh yikes. Who is brave enough to wear this? It's certainly going to make everybody laugh, but don't be surprised if drunk partiers mistake you for... oh that's to gross to say!

Sometimes you gotta laugh at the funny names they give the costumes. I guess this is supposed to be an evil nurse but it also looks like a police uniform, or... a pirate?... Or maybe some kind of outer-space future nurse? I'm usually aware of pop-culture references but maybe this is a knockoff from some show or movie I don't recognize.
