Back with another round of pictures. Even though it's all pandemic-y and not able to travel places, we still get out and get pictures to share. Whatever we find interesting, hopefully you'll find interesting, too.
Fail! Check out that huge tire mark in the mud, that was no where close to being right! I hope that person's KFC meal did not cost a ton extra in car repairs for driving over that concrete divider.
How did this happen? Looks like the screw that holds up the corn for our squirrel picnic has been un-screwed under the table. Not only did we have to get some plyers to up-screw this, but we had to use the plyers underneath to prevent the corn from simply pushing it back down. We'll probably have to cram something under it permanently.
New Lego minifigure series is from a new theme called Vidiyo. This is the known-about and dreaded shift to BOXES from the previously "squishable" bags that enabled you to look very silly but somewhat-reliably get the specific figures you want. Rumor had it that the cases themselves were sorted into rows, so that if you find a "fresh" case, you can get one of each if you empty a side. Since it's been a while since we've gone crazy, we decided to spend the money to try this out.
Busted! The switch to boxes was hailed as an environmentally friendly upgrade, but each figure was inside the box in a... plastic bag! So rather than remove the plastic bags, they still have them, but now also in a forest-reducing cardboard box. To be fair, Lego is working on making these inner bags paper, but right now it seems like a hollow gesture.
Well, it looks like our case had been "messed with" after all. We thought they had just put it out. We wound up missing four of the twelve figures and had four doubles. We kept an extra Bunny and Ice Cream Guy in the bags to eventually give to our friend. We actually got more lucky than un-lucky since we did get the figures we really wanted. I'd dread the thought of buying these completely "blind" at $5 each looking for only one figure.
Each Vidiyo minifigure included 3 of these printed tile pieces, which themselves are random in each box. So it's possible to get the same figure, but different tile pieces. What are these tiles for? I'm not quite sure yet but this is a music-y theme, so these pictures might be based off of popular album covers. We have little knowledge of album covers, do any of these look familiar to you?
Also in the Vidiyo theme, in addition to the random boxes you can buy a giant expensive $20 box. Execpt those are not random, you know which one you are getting. We chose this Wafflecone-tailed Mermaid. There is some kind of phone app that uses the tiles to create music videos or something. We've been too lazy to try that out yet, but we did just spend a lot of money, so we'll get to that later for sure.
We tried that Circus Cookie ice cream we scouted a few weeks ago. Not as mind-blowing as we thought, but it was pretty good. Needs more crushed pink-frosted animal cookies.
Hmmm... Great idea. If you do not want people to tailgate you, have a terrifying image on the back of your truck!
That's how you do a movie title! I'm excited just by the math! With even the most minimal set-up, that Crazy Samurai has to kill a guy every 12 seconds in a roughly 90-minute movie. This is the type of movie that my friend would have immediately rented at a Blockbuster back in the day.
Imagine our laughter when we looked over and saw this other movie! What is with the number 400? Although unlike the Crazy Samurai, I think 400 might be a low amount of bullets for an action movie. Does anybody count how many bullets are fired in a typical guns-action movie?
We put them next to each other on the shelf. It implies that those army guys figured out the 400 vs 1 math but it seems a little arrogant to assume they only need one bullet for each bad guy.
Thought this was a cute graphic for a hand sanitizer bottle. It works on so many levels. Give it to someone who you always borrow from.
Hey everybody, this is what Captain Marvel looked like in the comics. I know they changed a lot of the Marvel character designs for the movies, can you imagine if they went with this? Technically, it shouldn't matter what she wears... right?
OMG these were the most adorable things I've seen in a while, and I just had to get a picture to share.
Chex Quest? I don't know what that's all about, but the thought of the Chex Mix pieces fighting each other sounds pretty funny. You've had Chex Mix before, right? We all have our favorite pieces!
Back during Xmas when our friend sent us some Texas Roadhouse steaks, they arrived in cracked-open wrappings. They did send replacements but still one of them was also cracked. After waiting several weeks for the last re-replacement, we contacted them again, and they sent FOUR steaks! And I should point out that these ones were in completely new different packaging and totally fine. Always a blast to point out GREAT customer service when you get it, since that's so rare.
In stop-and-go traffic while they are fixing winter potholes. Never got stopped at a place to get a good view of a deep hole in the road, but did manage to get this jackhammer guy in our mirror.
Went to the mall last weekend. At the Lego Store saw this little taxi which itself is not very noticable, but we did like that it had the ad thing on top. When you look at the ad, it's for pizza and it says "Brick Oven!" which is very funny for Lego to say of course.
This wacky panda is in a wall sized ad for the new Vidiyo theme. I don't know what that has to do with Lego blocks, but it was crazy enough to get a picture of.
I've not seen a Razor Crest outside of the Lego Store, but here it is in case you are having trouble hunting one down yourself.
The Lego Store used to have a thing with bins full of random Minifig parts, and you could combine whatever you want to make any set of three figures for $10. Obviously we can't have that during "Covid Times" but those bins often contained parts in colors you could not find in any actual sets. Now they offer pre-built figures so you can still get those parts. It's kind of nice that you don't have to dig through the bin to find that one piece you were looking for, even if the rest of the figure might have pieces you'd rather swap.
