Princeton Battlefield Clarke House

One more batch of pictures from the Princeton Battlefield State Park. These are from around the Clarke House that's there.

This looks amazingly good for a house that supposedly several hundred years old. I guess they don't build 'em like they used to.

Pics of the house and around it. Click on the "Read more" below,

Here's the back porch. Probably didn't always have that cannon there.

We did not ring the bell or go inside the house. Maybe another time.

Yep. There I am, carefully standing on top of this thing. Wondering how the heck I would get out if I fell in. Luckily it was not very windy that day.

Here's the view from the back porch. Where's my rocking chairs at?

Haha obviously the air conditioning is not several hundreds of years old. Hidden behind an old-looking fence we peeked over.

An old barn, probably where the ponies of the time lived?

Look at all those rules and regulations? Nopony's got time for that!

We like maps. We can check this out later and see if there's any cool spots we missed.

There was a trial into a forest here. There were other families around so we were walking the bike around.

This picture doesn't really look like it, but it was dark and gloomy in this muddy forest. It was getting late and we didn't have time to explore around like we wanted.

Cool trail markers. We decided to head back to the house.

Some kind of odd grouping of plaques over there? Of course we gotta get pictures of those.

I guess this is to tell you why the land is preserved. There's plenty of other land to use for stuff I guess.

The rest of the plaques are about who donated to preserve the land? If nopony is using the land, how does that work?

Wow Peggy and Frank Taplin get their own plaque? For leaving land alone? That's visionary I guess.

Everypony else gets mentioned on this other plaque. We probably didn't need to take all these pictures of these plaques, but who else would have been curious about them? Now if you visit here, you can know to skip them.

There's another sign post that points us back to the house. Wait, Washington Marker? We've seen those before...

Ha! Another one of those Washington marched-his-troops markers. We passed one on the Raritan Canal trail before. I guess this is about the end of the march where the battle happened?

What the beep is this crazy thing growing on the tree in the back yard? Safe from animals because nopony would want to eat this gross-looking whatever. I feel uncomfortable just looking at it.

This picture might not be capturing the vast-ness of the bushes covered in these orange flowers. There was a TON of bees buzzing around here. Where's my honey at?
