X Marks The Spot

We had so much fun with the Treasure X sets that we got on clearance, that when we saw the new set had dragons, we got one right away. We thought it would be a fun idea to post up a whole set of pictures. I'll use the words "Treasure X Dragons: Golden Dragon Treasure Set" just in case anypony is searching for a review they can maybe find it easier. Enjoy the review!

Here's the big Treasure X Golden Dragon, um, Treasure Chest. The individual Dragons bricks are $15 each, and the new Skeleton guys are $10 each. This set also includes a pet minion of some kind and is $30. Which does seem a little steep. It's like what do they expect you to find in here, treasure? Haha. Yeah.

How many times can I use the word "Dig?" Click on the "Read more" below to find out what we discovered!

We're digging up the Dragon first. Here's an eyeglass thing on top of the brick. You can't see me!

You're supposed to use the lens on the map to see what about you're digging for. This is kind of a spoiler, as you can see we are in the area of the serpent statue. "X" marks the spot!

Digging away! Here's a bit of the... tail? The instructions tell you to run some water of the brick to make it easier to dig through, but we figured it would be more fun if it took longer.

Looks like here's some wings. Like a real scientist, we start to discover that there is value in "working for your reward" and think that's an appeal that Lego has going for it. Of course here you are destroying rocks, so that's a lot different than Lego. But still similar somehow.

This part here is the Dragon Egg. Which has the treasure inside. We'll save that part for later. Right now we are still all dirty from digging still.

Peek at the head of the dragon. Looks like some kind of snake dragon? Oh yeah, the spoiler eye lens thing already told us that.

Here's all the dragon bits. If we were real archaeologists, we'd use a brush to clean these delicate fossils. But these are plastic so running water should do fine.

There was quite a lot of brick leftover. Aw, but we wanted to do more digging!

Having some fun with the bottom of the brick. This would make a good screenshot to advertise Minty advertising Treasure X?

We smashed apart the brick anyway, just to make sure there were no more treasure bits we didn't know about. The big assembled cobra dragon is about to ask you to.... say hello to his little friend! Haha. The adults got that joke. Hopefully kids reading this have never seen Scarface.

Here's the egg. And spoiler from the eye lens, the Serpent Statue should be inside.

There's slime that supposed to be dragon blood or something. Didn't parents in the 80's win lawsuits involving carpet replacements? How is slime making a comeback? Aren't modern lawyers more evil now?

Like the package says, REAL GOLD! Um, dipped. Which probably makes this worth like $1? Kids won't know, right? It's GOLD! Sure looks valuable, and that's the real value.

Two more bricks! We saved these for another night but are bunching all these pictures together at once for everypony to see.

The smaller brick is for a minion beast and has a smaller digging tool. Can you dig it?

Oh, surprise, it's a snake. I think. Right now it could be a snake-headed anything. Let's dig more to find out.

Here's all the pieces of the snake minion. The treasure here is a fang of some kind. Probably don't want to touch the pointy end.

The last brick should have the skeleton guy in it. It's like a booster pack for a card game, except it takes a lot longer to open. And that's a good thing? Oddly, yes.

Peek-a-boo! He's green and is wearing some kind of snake hat. The art style of these figures is both cool and a little cute. The figures all look really good and that really helps make this fun.

Here's the full gang picture. The skeleton has some kind of flute to play for the dragon. It looks like they want to attack some G.I.Joes, yelling COBRA! This looks messy and silly, but I highly recommend picking up one brick of some kind to try for yourself. You'll see. When was the last time you played in the dirt? Perfect for a lazy afternoon. Newspaper on a table, movie on in the background. I suggest Indiana Jones? Maybe Jurassic Park?
