Like a Boss

More Minty comments on pictures we got while wandering around.

BBQ "like a boss". Hmm... so... just tell other people to do it for you? That's typically what a boss does. Not the actual thing. Does that mean you have to pay them, too?! Wait, did we just eat at a regular ole' restaurant? I'm so confused right now.

This sounds like my kind of jam. A whole warehouse of thrift shop treasures to browse?! Kind of a tease to see this in the regular store.

That blanket says "baby" Snoopy, but shouldn't it be "puppy" Snoopy? Is there a difference? Seriously asking, I don't know if it's okay to use "baby" instead of "puppy", but it seems to me like they should have used puppy.

Oh yeah that thing is haunted for sure. I'm not even sure I should have taken this picture, it looked so haunted. Our phone's camera takes excellent nighttime pictures, so you might not be able to see the aura of darkness that was around it. Looks a little like the classic grey alien eyes, you think?

How much do crayons go for these days? It's been a long time since I've bought any crayons, but $9 for this jar of broken up, used crayons seems very high to me, especially in a thrift shop.

A VHS blank tape with a recording of Cher's Farewell Tour? That's about as "Thrift Shop" as you can get! The fun part about it is that someone might actually WANT that! Haha. I'm going to be the nerd that points out the plastic tab has not been pulled off the top of the tape, so this is in danger of being recorded over. You gotta pull that tab off in case you accidentally hit the record button!

If you've not been on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, it's quite an impressive thing. It's a bridge that is 30 miles long! That's a lot of water! There's not just one, but TWO underwater tunnels. We travel on it every time we visit family in Virginia. Neat to see a mug in the thrift shop for it.

A Manga for Transformers? Cool! Considering the whole Transformers figures originated from Japanese designs and all.

How's Tony the Tiger supposed to eat those Frosted Flakes with that helmet on? And also, that milk would be frozen solid in space.

There was a cool moment in The Mandalorian where he jumped on the hover canon and mowed down a whole squad of troopers. But I'm totally going to be a nerd again and point out that Mando had upgraded his armor by this point in the series, the one included is from the very beginning of the show. D'oh! How can they not be paying attention to these types of details? Slackers!

While eating my Mac n' Cheese Bread Bowl, I kind of realized it felt like some type of thing you might see characters eating on another planet in space. Like, on Earth, we eat... sandwiches, and this thing is, like, bread stuffed with something. Like... an alien sandwich? Am I just bored thinking of things like this?

Did everybody do the things you needed to do during a 5-Planet Alignment? Summon demons? Seal, or open, a portal? Enchant that sword or whatever? I wonder if anything was going on over at Stonehenge for this kind of thing.

Re-watching The Mandalorian, and at the very end of the 2nd season there's a brief visit to the old Jabba's Palace. My friend spots an alien in the background which is unmistakably Ree Yees! That was his favorite "background alien figure" from when he was a kid! There's now film evidence that he survived the Sail Barge explosion! And not only that, but he seems to be talking with that dancer, too. Things look pretty good for ole' Ree Yees!

We quickly jump to the scene in Return of the Jedi and sure enough, Ree Yees is spotted on the Sail Barge. There is no evidence he was shot or anything during the scuffle, and the angle they show the explosion and the Heroes getting away, it sure looks like there is reason to believe others could have jumped ship and survived. So maybe your favorite background-alien survived, too?!

One day for lunch we try a food truck place called Bearded One BBQ, which according to sources has won all kinds of awards. Got the Loaded Pork Fries which was pretty amazing. Eating this kind of thing outside on the picnic tables was rockin' all kinds of theme park vibes.

Grabbed a quick picture as we were driving away. Almost in frame to the left is the smoker thing. You just know the pulled pork is going to be great if you see one of those giant smoker things! it looks like a food truck, but it's parked here all the time.

Sigh. Am I getting old? Remember when the coupon was right on the side of the can? This is telling me to go to a website for the offer. Ain't nobody got time for that!

The Batmobile chase was the highlight of the The Batman movie. Now you can have tiny cars on your desk re-create the scene! I guess Penguin was driving a 1963 Corvette.

Saw some Unicorn stuff I thought I'd be able to write something fun about. Notice how those two "n"s look similar but not identical? That's a whole hand-drawn title, not a fancy font from a computer. Which is a nice touch, even though clearly the contour outlines were done with a program. Package art! I can critique it if I want.

Here's a fun "UGH!" story. New Jersey recently passed laws that ban plastic bags from stores. At our local grocery store, frustrated customers flat-out took the shopping baskets home with them! So now there are NO smaller carry baskets to use. So I'm forced to lug around a whole huge shopping cart every time I go to pick up a few things. I can't blame them for not wanting to get more baskets, which would likely also disappear, but argh that's some strange riot-looting-rules that let them all vanish in the first place.

Red White and Blue cakes?! 'MERICA! But... Hahaha they kind of got it wrong because that's also the flag of the Netherlands with the horizontal stripes in that order.

There's a new Chick Fil' A near us! It's a lot closer than the other one but it's in the other direction from work, so we can only get there on a weekend. And by "weekend" I mean Saturday. We noticed the laser-etched table decorations.

I'm not sure if Chuck E. Cheese knows the correct definition of "fun" because getting attacked by a shark does not seem like it would be included in a Summer of Fun.

Random tiny mint-colored wheelbarrow. Who or what is this for? It's way too tiny to be actually used as a wheelbarrow. And too small to be some kind of lawn decoration. Unless you have a tiny lawn? Eh... nice color though.

Why did I find it odd to see comic book style drawings on these boxes? Not tied to any movie or TV shows. I mean, those Marvel cake things I just posted also had comic style non-film drawings, why did I find these more comic-book-y? Do kids still read comics like this? Or do we all just wait for the movies and TV shows these days?
