This bunch of pictures is collected over several bike-rides. Trying not to take too many pictures, but after a while there's enough interesting stuff to post about.
Ah, precious water. The last few times we've passed this fountain it was not running. And although we resisted the temptation to dive in, it's still refreshing to get some cooler air around it.
Pinot's Palette. Looks like some kind of wine place that you paint at. Is that an excuse to drink more, or an excuse to paint more? No doubt there's a lot of happy little trees in there.
Giant concrete Lego block! Where's the patent for this? How long ago was this? Did Lego rip these people off?
I was trying to take a picture of those smooth giant rocks in the water there, but I can barely see them through the sun glare!
I took this picture on the 4th of July. It's the big field that the town usually does little community events at. Obviously there's not going to be any fireworks show tonight.
Oh. Wow. This changes things. While riding the bike through the Princeton Football Stadium, which is always wide open, I notice the water fountains are functioning. They are the fill-up-a-bottle type. My friend tried to get his head under there but it was a silly mess. Even so, we'll be able to re-fill our bottle here, and extend our trips a lot longer! Huzzah!
Ergh! I'm shocked. SHOCKED, I say! I realize this is probably being used for some kind of banner. But... it also totally looks like somebody hung a noose on that tree. In the middle of the Princeton campus! Is anybody going to cry OUTRAGE about this? So much shame for them allowing this. Even if it's unintentional.
Well, I'll try to lighten the mood with this picture of this cheerleader flower bush. The flower bunches looked like little pom poms. Go team!
Nothing going on in Princeton for the 4th of July, either. As a matter of fact, a lot of stores are closed so there's tons of parking spaces just open. Where can I watch some fireworks around here?
Notice anything? Those giant wooden doors don't seem to have any handles on them. How are you supposed to get in? Is that part of the lesson? When you can enter the classroom, you have already passed the test. It's like something from a Naruto episode.
Big empty area with a tiny Beware of Goose sign. It's funny, but should I be worried? Are the geese bad enough to need a warning sign?
Laughed hard at the classic-style school prank where some kids tossed safety cones on top of that sculpture. A couple of them are even standing straight up! Score!
Fire Truck just out for a stroll. No emergency. If you look carefully, you can see some kind of baby doll hanging from the ladder in front of the cab.
Some kind of "wound" on this tree? Reminds me of the Horta. Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a botanist!
Got it! it's rare to get the timing right on this bridge over the train tracks, but every so often we get to see an actual train. It's even harder to get the camera out in time to get the picture.
That is one lazy bird. It was so chillin' on the side of the trail, that I was able to notice it, stop the bike, back up, get the camera out, and get it's picture. While a jogger passed us, too. That bird just didn't want to move!
This is the main road that leads into Princeton! Closed! D'oh! There are other roads to take, but this is the main one and it's a lot hassle to go around. Good thing we're on a bike!
Why is there just one perfectly geometric square of grass growing in that pool?
You'll have to zoom in to read it, but there's Princton-level scribbles all over that white board. Hope it's not a secret, whatever the scribbles mean.
WATER!! It's so nice to be able to chug as much water as you want on a hot day. Typically we only have the one bottle with us, which we portion out during the trip. Now, not only can we chug infinite water, but the bottle is completely full when we leave this spot!
This side street has a couple of deer casually hanging out on it. The smaller one is smart enough to stay on the edge, just in case.
I just thought it'd be nice to get a picture of the D&R Canal State Park trail. Sometimes you gotta stop and "appreciate" things. This is a cool trail and I'm glad we get to ride up and down it as much as we do.
We are taking a detour around the Princton Golf course, and have a moment where we notice how extremely rocky and bumpy the side road is. So... non-rich/sloppy-peasants must ride around the golf course. There is a perfectly smooth paved golf cart road through the golf course, but we're not "good enough" to use it. We get this ridiculously uncomfortable path instead. There's some deep social commentary going on here. Why not make the side road just as smooth?
Just past the golf course is a park, but I guess it's rental-only? Did the golf people buy up the park?
We biked all the way over here! You have no frame of reference to know how far away from our apartment this mall is. But it's kind of far. For a bike.
Random fountain in a lake on the side of the road. Caught a rainbow in the spray around it! No mistaking it, there's got to be a pot of gold over there!
Odd bunch of fluff on the side of the road. Who's the detective that's going to figure out what happened around here?
If you look in the middle of this picture, you can see a tall white bird checking us out, checking it out... checking us out. We're checking you out. We tried to zoom in to get a better picture when...
It suddenly bolted into the air, low and very close to those cars, ...and off to the other side of the road it went! It's cool bird. I was just trying to get a picture.
