Epcot again, part 1

Got a few more batches of pictures to post from our Disney trip. Who's tired yet? Not us! This was a solid start at Epcot, we gotta go save the Galaxy with some Guardians!

Since we were staying at the Yacht Club, we could simply walk into Epcot. Which was very useful. The way they were doing the "line" for the newest ride, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, was a little crazy. You have to log into the park app, and at 7AM.... CLICK! AHHHHH!! We all had to get up at before 7 and get ready to quick-draw a button click that theoretically EVERYBODY was trying to click at exactly 7. Possibly thousands of people, everybody that wanted to ride the ride today. It was a "virtual line" that you jump into, and if you missed it, you'd have to pay extra to buy a VIP pass. Only one of us was needed to be fast enough for our whole group, and BAM! We got into the "line" in group B! Which was pretty much right when the park was opening. Yikes! Too fast? Let's GO!

Very light crowd as we rush through. We're all a little tired but excited we get to go on the newest ride.

No time to check out the life-sized Nova Corp space ship. We were minutes away from missing our time. Maybe we could have waited one more microsecond before pressing the button? But one more-more microsecond, and we might have missed it completely. And we did make it here in time, so it's all good.

We're in! The line queue area was a walk-through for a minute, but eventually it settled into an actual bit of waiting.

I think this is a city on the Nova Corps world Xandar. It was a neat bit of special effects with projected animation on the model. So it looked quite futuristic.

Wall-sized screen with some kind of space Today Show news report, talking with the Guardians of The Galaxy. Check it out! Star-Lord and Gamora!

Terry Crews makes his MCU debut as Nova Corp Centurion Tal Marik. He has a few funny lines, but also lets you know... no more pictures. Don't make him mad!

Off the ride, and into the gift shop. I gotta say, it's officially my new favorite Disney park ride. It was amazing fun. Imagine being IN a Guardians of The Galaxy movie. Like, "in" it. It's that much fun. It's a roller coaster like you've never been on before, as the cars rock from side-to-side as it races along. You also get a random retro tune during the ride and we got Gloria Estefan's Conga. Which was stuck in my head for a whole week afterward, in the best way.

Various Infinity Stone merch in the shop. Any super-fans know which colors are which stones? I only know a few of them, and I'm pretty sure this is the one Dr. Strange had, and is supposed to be green. Right?

Did you know by going on the ride, you're now an Honorary Guardian of The Galaxy? Yup, we are!

I mean, it's a clever way of selling merch. Gotta let everybody know you once helped save the whole galaxy.

So if the green one is the Time Stone, you can follow this wheel around to know the colors of the other stones. If you needed to know for any reason. Also funny to think you can just buy these in a gift shop... oh, snap!

They didn't let you take pictures on the ride, but here's one of the swivel-cars in the gift shop.

It's the guy from the movie in the gift shop screen! You think he knew when he got that bit part in the movie, that one day he'd be greeting millions of tourists in a gift shop? Cool, right?

Back to Earth and a soda break in the Coca Cola flavors from around the world. The Philippines one was tasty! Watermelon Coke? Yum! The "Beverly" was not as bad as I remembered, and maybe I could get used to it? Like, if there was no other choice. But there is a choice, so get me some more Royal Wattamelon.

Gift shop! We had to waste some time before the lunch places opened, it was just a little too early but we were hungry and chose to wait the 20 minutes in here.

Disney Theme Park version of Monopoly in the Disney Theme Park gift shop. Is this too much insider information? Like, does it give you an idea of how much money the parks make? One person wins while all the other players go bankrupt in the park.

Another full display of Starbucks "Been There Series" mugs, with Star Wars places. To remind you, one of the hotel employees told us they saw Mustafar ones, and specifically in Epcot, so we carefully checked each gift shop we passed for them. None here.

They better not ditch their cargo if they get stopped by the Empire. Pizza the Hut will put a bounty on their heads!

Mike Wazowski mini basketball! I bought this exact thing like, twenty years ago! So it was like seeing an old memory... neat.

Ponies! What? These are from the Hercules movie. My Little Pegasus-es?

After lunch, our one friend bailed to relax at the hotel. He was not feeling well. I'll let you know he totally recovered, but it's no fun getting sick on a vacation. Bummer. But the rest of us continued on. Here's the big sphere everyone must get a picture of at Epcot.

Spaceship Earth! Not sure why, but I really like this thing. It's kind of simple as far as rides go, and it's "educational" which might get a "boooo" from the kids. But it's oddly inspirational, and it's the best story.

I was not planning on getting any pictures in here, but the ride stopped during the Ice Age. I was bored so I tried to get a picture. At least it was cool in here. Hahaha, nothing to do with the Ice Age.

After the ride, a rainstorm trapped us in a nearby pin shop for a while. So at least we had a bunch of cool pins to check out. The Tower of Terror is not in Epcot, but the pins are!

I've seen the Guardians of The Galaxy movies, and that is not Mary Poppins.

Look at all the Loki's! Look-Loki? Lookis? So much glorious purpose!

It's the Milkshake/Pancake bunny from Wreck-It Ralph Breaks The Internet! That pin is a snapshot of the most-funny bit in that movie.

I'd like to think this is a super-recognizable thing from Indiana Jones, but I don't know. I mean, I knew what it was. Should I assume everyone else does, too?

Finding Nemo ride? I heard it's very "kid-dy" but I've not been on it before, so... sure.

It's a simple ride where you sit in a shell and the wall has sea decorations and screens to look at.

OH! I got a piture of Nemo on the screen. Found him.

Shark prop peeking through this deco. This is about as good as this ride gets. This might be the most "little kid" thing I've ever been on. Ever.

Near the end... Wait... are those REAL dolphins? That might not be a screen...

I'm glad I had no idea, because I was sufficiently blown-away. The ride exits into a full-blown aquarium! Check out the Sea Cows!
Call me Manatee!
Whatever, Sea Cow.

Play area for kids, You might have to look closely to see me in the mouth of the photo-op shark. Chomp!

Another photo-op shark. You supposed to be giving it a fin-bump?

The sign says not to stick your hand in the sharks mouth, but then there's totally a hole you're supposed to stick your hand in. Know your audience! Of course the kid's hands will go in the mouth! Touching the back wall in there activates funny messages.

The Hammerhead Shark looks like it belongs on an alien planet. But it's a regular Earth animal. Is it? Hmmm... Now I have a crazy new conspirithy theory, what if they ARE from another planet!?!

I was a little determined to not take a hundred pictures in here, but there was just so much cool stuff to look at, I had to get a bunch anyway. Keep in mind, I could have taken many more.

Found him! A "real" Nemo. This poor fish must get lots of pictures just because it looks like the fish from the movie.

And... the sequel fish, Finding Dory. She had the funny bit where fish have bad memories, so it was interesting for her to have a whole story she doesn't really remember.

That fish was totally holding itself in that coral by using its fins as arms with hands! Are we visually witnessing "evolution"?! I think we are!

Glow-y plants! Are we in Avatar? This is the type of thing they had in Avatar.

These pictures are not really "good", the sea animals were a lot more vivid and colorful than it shows. That shrimp was going nuts on that poor clam. I know it's "nature" but it was oddly rough to watch. Sometimes I think I'm a little too sensitive.

What happened here? It looks like some Jedi dropped a lightsaber in the tank?

I was not going to take any pictures in the gift shop, but this was too good to pass up. It's a-Dory-ble! Get it? Because it's Dory? And um... adorable? I think that was worth the picture.

Stay tuned for more pictures from Epcot!
