The next day we drove our visitors to Lambertville for the bridge-walk over to New Hope. The recent storm blew in a massive heat wave. It was, without exaggerating, 100 degrees outside. We knew it was going to be a little rough to walk around, but there are plenty of cool shops to pop in to. Both cool with air conditioning, and cool with shopping.
Check out this awesome parking spot! It's the closest you can get to the bridge, right on the corner. We've been here lots of times, but if you don't know, This side of the bridge is New Jersey and over there is Pennsylvania.
There's a neat line on the bridge to stand over for photo ops. I just noticed the text says toll bridge commission, but there's no toll for driving over this bridge.
Greeting us over the bridge is this metal sculpture. At a glance it looks like there is nothing holding up that top part.
I don't remember what was in this spot, but it will soon be a new place to check out.
There used to be a small mall-like building here, with a couple of stores we liked. The whole place has been re-done into a food court with many different small vendors and a much-too-tiny table area.
We wound up choosing The Pork Shack because yum.
We went to a different place to get our beverage. Trying a mint tea, it was kinda "meh" until we realized you have to add sugar and then of course it got a lot better.
The menu called this a sandwich, but it was in one of those bread taco shells. Ours had hot sauce and blue cheese, and there was cheese dipping sauce for the tots. It was amazing.
In an attempt to un-program himself, my friend purposefully left one of the tots. Growing up, his parents would often say things like "who's going to eat the last piece of pizza?!" and he claims this has lead him to over-eat thinking he has to completely finish the food. American portion sizes are pretty generous so it's okay to not finish it when you know you should stop.
If the water wasn't moving down this waterfall, we think it would actually start to boil. It was soooooo hot outside.
The hot temperature didn't stop that kid from fishing down there. He seemed to be having a great time of it.
The store in this corner spot had all of the risque clothing in it, but now was empty. My friend never bought anything there but it was always fun to see the outfits. He probably wouldn't have taken his parents in there anyway haha.
Looks like the popcorn store was closed, too. Maybe they should have shown movies. Do you need the movies for the popcorn, or need the popcorn for the movies?
Nobody was interested in Jerky today. Um, kangaroo? I don't remember seeing that anywhere else before.
That is some ART. Is there a name for the creature that's half owl, half octopuss? Owltopuss?
We didn't take too many pictures in the shops this time, but here's a fun figure we saw. It's Mary Poppins, y'all!
We weren't quite sure what this shop was, but they had a neat sign.
The weird creature at the far end of the place is still here and still very weird. Come out to New Hope and say hi. Hopefully on a cooler day. I think I'm about to melt on this thing.
