This may sound like a silly question, but have you seen the movie Avatar? The one with the glowy plants and the tall blue aliens, and the giant tree and the floating rocks? You know, the movie that made the most bazillion dollars and was only recently topped by Avengers: Endgame? Are you the one person who didn't see that movie yet? Disney made a whole place from that movie for you to explore and enjoy!
They really can't get away with calling this place "Avatar Land" it's technically the planet Pandora and more specifically they put you in the Valley of Mo'ara. This is in the Animal Kingdom park if you haven't seen the recent posts, we were still there.
The ground was glowing! We waited until night time to check out this part of the park, because we didn't want the scenery spoiled by daylight.
Plants glowing all around us! It's dark and the camera is trying it's best, but a lot of this doesn't show up as well in these photos.
This glowy spot on this rock was some kind of trigger for a nearby waterfall above it. I just thought this glowy spot looked cool enough on it's own.
Look up! FLOATING ROCKS! Oh, my... those are huge!
The glowing plants all over the place were certainly super awesome looking.
You just know that these rocks are held up by cleverly hidden supports, but honestly the illusion was complete. Not like we really tried to spot a support structure, but we didn't see any anywhere.
This floating rock had a waterfall coming off of it! What kind of sorcery is this?
There might be too many pictures of glowy plants and floating rocks to caption with fun comments. They are so cool looking, how can you not take a bunch of pictures?
We're in the line queue for the "smaller" of the two main rides for Avatar. This one is like Pirates of the Caribbean where you ride a boat in a river with a bunch of cool stuff to check out. The other ride is the "main attraction" I hear.
Since this ride is about peacefully observing the wildlife, there are museum-like plaques to read in line. It's a nice teaser for what you can expect to see on the ride.
Here's a Direhorse. Is this the Pandora equivalent to a pony? Hey, cousin!
Is that some kind of throne over there? It's looks like the Game of Thrones Iron Throne, except instead of a thousand swords this thing is made from a thousand sticks.
Here we are in row 1 about to get on the boat. There was no fast passes for these Avatar rides, so we waited in this line for about a half hour.
We mostly tried to enjoy the ride and not get distracted with pictures. Still got one of the cute floating glowy jellyfish things.
Off the river and on our way to the other Avatar ride. Something about flying around on the Banshee creatures. You climb a mountain and get some pretty good views of the land while you are up there.
I like that we chose to come here at night first, the glowing plants look amazing. But next time I'd like to see what this stuff looks like during the daylight, too.
Into the cave we go. We overheard somebody taking about how this character on the wall was important and nobody notices it. So we got a picture to try and figure it out later if we wanted.
We're in the human research facility that was abandoned after the events of the movie. So there's some sci-fi doors and stuff to check out.
The line queue wraps all around glowing vegetation. It's a good thing this place looks so cool because you'll be here for a while.
Good morals about trying to un-do the evil deeds shown in the movie. It's pretty cool that they get an opportunity do that here.
They are trying to give the impression that this abandoned base is old and worn down. So here's like a half of a sign. I guess space-chalk is like a million times more durable than regular chalk, which would have been easily blown away over time.
Looking at these pictures, the colors are pretty, but you might not be getting the "glow" effect properly. That you'll need to see for yourself I guess.
I'll leave you here for today, as we look down curiously and see a bunch of loose change dropped into the area. There's no fountain or anything so it's just a little weird how this happens. If you're a little sad that I'm leaving off here in the middle of the line wait, that's sort-of thematically on purpose. Because we seriously waited in this line for a long long time. And a lot of it you could see the long line in front of you in a very depressing way. There's more line pictures coming soon!
