There's still many more days of pictures from our Disney vacation! Next up, The Magic Kingdom!
This picture was taken the first night we were there, on the way to the Trails End. That week, they were closing the Magic Kingdom early to re-open it after dark as a Xmas Holiday special event.
You can see all of the cast members dressed up in Xmas outfits. I'm sure there was a lot of Holiday stuff going on inside.
They have this new skyline thing going on, as a quicker transport between some of the resorts and parks. We never got the opportunity to try it out, but I grabbed a picture of the Star Wars car. There was a lot of different themes for these cars.
Alright! We're here for the day! Here's the big Xmas Tree that greets you on Main Street!
Since every other day this week they were closing early for the Holiday events, this was the only full day available for regular visitors. And thus, the park was extra-extra full of visitors. Yikes!
Snapped a picture of this cute tiki statue on the way over to Adventure Land. From this angle, you wouldn't think this place is so packed today.
During our quick lunch, we were joined by this popcorn-eating bird. It's beak seemed perfectly adapted to snagging bits off the ground. How cool is that?
They can't really seriously think you'll get wet on Pirates of the Caribbean?
This was a Fast Pass kind of day! By booking the Fast Pass times on our tickets in the Magic Bands, we saved several hours throughout the day.
Big 'ole skull-shaped rock. Pirates used these to scare people away from their hideouts. Or giftshops.
It was a little chilly that day. While waiting at the bus stop earlier in the morning, my friend decided to run back to the room to change into pants rather than shorts. It wasn't quite cold enough to get a hoodie from the gift shop, but it might have been nice.
This treasure has been plundered! Somebody filled up a BAG!
I could easily get into collectible coin um, collecting. These might not be real gold, but are valuable in their own special way.
Pretty sure I've take a picture of this saying before. But my friend has a story where, as a teenager, he was playing and somebody poked at his eyeball. It's all fine now, but he gets a special poke out of this.
In the line for the Pirates of the Caribbean. This cell down there is super dark, yet the new camera can see stuff going on. There's only a few pieces left on that chess board, who is going to win?
The character now known as "Redd" went through a lot of changes. She started out as a girl being auctioned off to the pirates, and now she is running the auction herself! She's so popular now that you can sometimes find the character wandering around the theme parks like other characters do for photo ops.
Seeing how well the new camera grabs the pictures in the dark. Here's the classic scene where the dog has the keys and the prisoners are trying to call it over. As the boat passes by this section, turn around and look behind you. The one cell's back wall is totally on fire because it's from the previous area's display. Looks kind of funny- like, those poor prisoners!
The Splash Mountain ride was currently down. We had Fast Passes for later though. Still had to stop by and say "Hi!" to Br'er Rabbit.
We haven't seen Turbo around in New Jersey lately. Is that him? did he retire to Florida? There are all kinds of squirrels in the parks it's awesome to imagine a retired squirrel living here.
My friend remarked how you never see these turnstiles anymore. Here they were in front of the Country Bear Jamboree.
We took a moment to relax and watch the show. The Country Bear Jamboree is basically like a Chuck E .Cheese animatronic bear show, but like the Disney version so... of course tons better.
I had to look up the name of the character; these bears reminded my friend of the Saturday Night Live skit with the girl with the super-tiny hands, Dooneese.
One of our new favorite funny Disney things, the bear on the left there sang a super-dark song: "There was blood on the saddle, blood all around. Great big puddle... of blood on the ground" and then they just cut him off. No explanation, no context. Just really messed-up stuff. So overwhelmingly shocking it was hilarious, if that makes any sense. The rest of the songs all had punchlines to the funny lyrics but not that guy.
